Went to the Dr today. Pain in my lower abs and groin just isn't getting better. Every movement woke me up as I slept last night. Blah! Treatment is heat, IB, and more rest. So much for a spring marathon. Or a spring race of any distance for that matter. I'm not too upset about missing Shamrock but I really wanted to run Pear Blossom again. Oh well--what are you going to do? Going back to Dr on March 19th.

| | No running this week. I was tempted but instead ate cheesecake, cookies, and ice cream. And Whopper robin eggs. And then some Reeses eggs. I'm pretty sure there were other unhealthy things mixed in-between all that as well. Good stuff. It's safe to say I'm turning to food to replace my running and that I no longer need a belt. This sucks.

| | 2 miles tonight after work. 1 on the grass/trails at the park and 1 on the roads around the house. Looks like the rest hasn't done much though. I'm going to give it a try the rest of the week and if it's not better then I'm going to see a specialist. I'm certain it's a sports hernia.... | Add Comment |

3 miles after work. Felt worse than yesterday. I don't know what to do...
On a positive note, today while driving around Portland near PGE Park I saw Shalane Flanagan. I was stopped at a light and she approached my front and ran past me. I quickly circled around the block and caught up to her right as she turned on to a one-way street (against traffic) so that ended my chase. How cool would it have been to talk with her?! Now I just need to see Kara Goucher and I'll have seen/met the 3 most famous female runners living in Oregon (I ran into Jordon Hasay last year in Sunriver).

3 miles before work. Abs hurt. Actually, the abs weren't too bad but the groin pain is back.

3 miles before work. For some reason my abs felt great. Go figure. Maybe all the core work is starting to pay off?

4 miles in the POURING rain. It was really coming down today in Portland. My abs felt great--the best I've felt in 2 months. It wasn't 100% but I only noticed it the first two minutes and then I felt great. C2 (235)

5 miles this morning. Most of it on the park trails and wood-chips but I ventured off on the roads for a bit. Lunar (97)
