| This run got cut short due to my running partner being stubborn. I gave myself just the amount of time I needed to get it done, but he just wouldn't budge so it turned into more of a walk. |

| Over the past two weeks Clarky has developed a limp. I wanted to let him rest for a week or so but I got dressed to run and he got reallllly excited. I just couldn't leave him behind. I took him for a little less than a mile and he pretty much sprinted it he was so happy to be out there. He was limping pretty bad by the end though :( For about a mile I was racing a horsefly. He kept landing on me and flying around me. In Tallahassee they used to say the flies couldn't go faster than 7:30 pace so I picked it up and eventually lost him. That was pretty much the excitement of the day. Clarky miles- .9 |

2x6 min surges. About a month from duathlon day with my brother (I run 2 miles, he bikes, I run 4 miles). I won't have great speed or endurance by then, so I am really working on building mental toughness. The second surge almost made me puke- I guess I pushed myself hard enough! When I finished my knee was immediately tender- definitely swollen and a little stiff. I'll know more in the morning. Hopefully swelling will work its way down, not up. I'll do a little ice tonight. No Clarky- he is only walking til his leg heals.

| Ran around the 200m indoor track rather than the 100 degree weather. In the summer the gym closes really early so I was rushed. After 1.5 mi I did one mile hard in 6:04, then 1.5 mi cool down. I'm happy with that, although this time next week I'd like to be able to do 2 near that speed. |

I talked to a trainer about my knee yesterday. It was somewhat unofficial, as we both just happened to be at BWW, but it is about darn time! He thinks I have bursitis- one of my past self diagnoses. If this is the case there is really nothing I can do except try to mitigate it with stretching and strengthening (especially the muscle along the inside of my quads). When it happens the only thing I can do is ice, rest, etc. What I am frustrated about is it has seemed in my past that it requires complete rest (of all activities) and for months to get the swelling down. I think I am going to go talk to the athletic trainers officially some time before school starts. Because I can feel it just while I sit here and type. Not pain but stiffness and throbbing.
