Cheris and I ran an easy 5 miles. We tried to run about a 10 min pace, but ended up with a 9:16 average. It seems almost as hard to make ourselves go slow as it does fast.
Julie--From all the info I've gleaned from Sasha and Steve, you shouldn't worry about your exact pace, worry more about effort level. On your easy days, run easy enough that you can carry on a conversation about complex issues. As long as you're not gasping for breath and can talk comfortably, you are running your correct pace--and that may vary from run to run depending on factors such as fatigue, stress, etc. So effort level is the way to go.
Thanks Cheryl. That's great to know. We had no problem having a conversation, so the pace was right on.
