I did a one hour strength training class at the gym. I ran 1.5 miles on the treadmill before, and 1 mile after.

Strength training has a much lesser bang for the buck than just running. Do not cut a run short to strength train. If you have extra time after you've put in all of your miles, strength training is a good idea.
