I forced myself to not run all week, even though I've been pretty itchy to move.  Instead, I've been planning a Grand Canyon R2R2R trip and reading lots of blogs.  And, I've been sitting here hitting refresh, waiting for you all to put up your St. George Marathon race reports.  Hurry up, darn it!

Dave sent me his photos from Bear, so I added 5 new ones on my blog.

Lunch- back on the gravy train.  8 miles at lunch with a group of 8 runners.  Great weather.  Hips and achilles were a bit tender, but I can't complain.  Plan to ease back into running this week to get ready for my R2R2R next Monday.

Lunch- 8 on a cool, blustery day.  Hoped to go to Paris Mtn after work, but ended up not having time.  Tomorrow and Thursday, for sure.  I need dirt!

Lunch- 8 with the group.

PM- Paris Mountain.  I love this mountain- I've told Marci that if she cares about me at all, she'll make sure we buy a house near there (hint, hint, no pressure!).  Only me second trail run in 4 weeks, though the other one was a bit long.  Lots of hikers and bikers, including some bikers after dark wearing lights.  10 miles, 1700 ft climbing.  Unfortunately, the time off didn't help my Achilles- it hurt as bad as it did before the Bear, which is a bit annoying.  At least it doesn't hurt on flat runs.  It just has to get through the Grand Canyon, then I'll give it a bit of rest.

Ran the Grand Canyon R2R2R with Rob and Cody.  Full report is on my Green Shorts running page.  And for anyone who doesn't think this deserves a Race Report... well, go run it yourself and see if it isn't more worthy than any race you've ever done...

Very minimal soreness, only a little stiff.  Achilles is far better than I hoped it would be.  My house is 2/3 packed on a moving truck right now, so it's been a few busy days.  And I get to celebrate my birthday tomorrow by cleaning my house all day!

PM- 3 with Marci, easy around Tooele.  We have locked up our house in Logan and are officially flying to SC tomorrow.  Now if we can just get our house sold- closing date was pushed back again today...

Lunch- First speedwork of any sort since June, other than some hard trail runs.  And my legs were appropriately sluggish.  5 mile warmup, then just under 4 miles hard.  We did loops around a .86 mile lake- first loop was 4:45 (5:31 pace), then next 2 were 10:21 (6:01 pace), and last one was 5:27 (6:20 pace).  Yeah, definitely started out WAY too fast and died.  Definitely not in 5k, 1/2 marathon, or marathon road race shape.  I just was notified I made it into the Shut In Ridge Run (I was number 57 on a wait list with only 200 runners in the race).  It's a 20+ year old trail race in Asheville, NC, 18 miles long with 5000 ft climbing, so you know it has to be good.  11 miles total in 74 min.

PM- Work has been super stressful with long hours (yeah, yeah, rub it in, Cody), so missed the lunch run.  Snuck in 4 miles after work before heading home, primarily to blow some steam.  I have no idea how I am going to run high mileage with this job.  And achilles is very worrisome.  Still.

Lunch- 9 miles on a rainy day.  New route today (well, a few miles of it), which is definitely something new from the standard 3 routes we run...

The moving truck arrived with a few furnishings for our apartment.  It seems weird to have more than a card table and air mattress, my only furniture for the past 2 months.

No run today.  Long, busy day.  In some good news, we closed on our house in Utah.  Unfortunately, we had to take a hefty check to closing- that definitely hurts.  But at least we sold it- there are a lot of people in this country who would love to sell their houses, even at a loss.  Now we can low-ball the crud out of everyone here to find a good deal.

AM- Long run, just on the normal lunch run routes, all strung together.  17 miles in 2:07, including doing 2 of the last miles a bit faster, just for fun (6:35 pace).  1000 ft climbing, just from all the hills.  Hips and Achilles hurt, so I thought of stopping at 12, but just kept going.  First run this long on the roads in a long time, and it's kind of boring by myself.

For the record, the lake we do repeats around is .8525 (I ran around it 4 times and took the average).

Last race of the year next week- I'm mainly trying to have fun (though I'll be somewhat competitive, of course).  No races planned after that- not sure if I'll take a break or sign up for something else soon.
