Lunch- 7 ez miles in 57 minutes.  Todd found what appears to be a cross country route around Mt. Zion Academy so that was nice.  Ankle wasn't happy all run, though mainly when running on anything bumpy or off-camber.

PM- Paris Mtn with a group of 6 of us.  Good run, though I was unsurprisingly very tired by the end.  And I twisted my left ankle pretty good, leaving me limping.  11.5 miles in 1:52.

Woke up for a morning run but my walk to the bathroom had me feeling sufficiently beat up still that I decided to give myself an extra day rest.  After all, the key is being healthy and fit for Pinhoti 100, not meeting arbitrary mileage goals this week.  Perspective.  I don't feel at all guilty for any extra rest days or cross training within 10 days either side of an ultra.

AM- Tried to run.  Made it 2 minutes.  Not sure what is up with my ankle/foot- sprained ankle?  Sprained foot?  Tendonitis?  Strain?  Strong pain that seems to move around and come and go.  Weird and frustrating.  Ended up doing some crosstraining.

Lunch 9 miles. As bad as my foot hurt yesterday, it was much better today. Ran 8 miles pain free, then started twinning the last mile so I stopped.

PM- Foot hurt quite a bit during the day, but decided to run anyways.  Felt good enough to run a few miles, then do some arc trainer.  I probably shouldn't, but I'm going for a long trail run tomorrow.

PM- Took Jason for his first-ever run at DuPont after work. Great place for running. I was really worried about my foot. It was fine for the first two hours but then my Achilles rapidly went downhill such that I cut the run short and was walking and limping by the end. At least I got some time on my feet. Got home at 11 pm. 17 miles with 1900 climbing in 3 hrs.

I'm signed up for a trail 6k race in the morning but I doubt I run it.

Slept in till 8 am (latest in a long time) while wearing my beloved Strassburg sock (hate the feel but love the results).  Leg felt better but I decided to rest.  My long distance endurance is still there, I just need to get healthy.  I'll admit I've been about 50 miles below my planned mileage for each of the past 2 weeks, but not much I can do about that now.  This is showing me how hard I pushed at TNF win and how close my body is to breakdown.

Lunch- 6 run, 4 xt.  Achilles didn't feel great but wasn't painful.

I moved into a new age group today- Usher and I both turned 35 (twins?).  After work, Marci surprised me with a dinner sans kids.  We chose a wild game restaurant where we ate kangaroo, duck, and gator.  Then I went to Panera Bread for a free dessert... but apparently they don't do that anymore.  Doh.  So then we went to Culver's and got a free sundae.  I love Culvers.  And I'm very stuffed now.

AM ran to the soccer fields for a bit of hilly speed work. No real time distance goals, just raise the heart rate. Ended up doing about 4-5 miles around 6:30 ish pace. Ran into Jason so he joined me for the last mile. 10 miles total in 70 min.

PM 6 miles in 44 min. Glad I got in all 80 miles I wanted this week. It seemed a pretty easy 80. I'd normally start my taper but I might wait an extra week as I'm already feeling rested from low mileage the last 6 weeks.

Lunch- 10 with the guys.  11 at the start, just Jim and I for the second half.  Todd found a ~mile long cross country trail around the local school which we've been enjoying- 3 loops today, with some guys heading back after each lap.  Nice and rough terrain, hilly, off-road.

PM- Paris Mtn with Barry, Aaron, and Lynn.  Cool temps (50 at the finish) and partly in the dark.  11 miles in 1:54 with 1400 ft climb.  It's my last PM Thursday night run for a while as PM will be open after 6 pm only on Tuesdays once we hit daylight savings, and I have Scouts on Tuesday.

One of the strangest things that has ever happened to me on a run occured today.  While running far from a trailhead, a young guy (maybe 18 years old?) wearing cargo pants and long sleeve shirt came running up behind me, breathing loudly and taking very long steps.  He started passing me on the rocky, technical trail.  Just as he drew even with me, he pulled a pamphlet out of his pocket and asked, "Would you like a religious tract?"  Shocked, I quickly declined his offer, saying I didn't want to carry anything.  He then passed the others in my group, also offering a pamphlet to Aaron, before quickly disappearing into the distance.  Just strange, everything about it.

Lunch- 6.5 running with the guys (we got kicked off our newest route, the cross country route around Mt. Zion Academy- they don't want us running it during school hours.  We've been kicked off 4 or 5 running routes, now), then some xt.  Foot wasn't great.  I think I'll take 3 days entirely off in an effort to get it healed for Pinhoti 100 next week.
