Well, I was only about 26 minutes slower than the last marathon I ran 6 months ago (SGM), but I was actually pretty happy with how everything went today given my lack of training since the beginning of the year.  I figured I could hit 3:30:00 and I would be very happy if I broke 3:20:00, so overall, I was pretty happy with everything and if nothing else this just fueled the fire to get in better shape and get going with training.  Hopefully my body will cooperate.

I was in corral 2 and basically got forced to go way faster than I wanted or anticipated.  I think I would have gotten run over if I went any slower than I was going (upper 6's).  I tried and tried to slow down and eventually got to where I was around the 7:30 mark.  I was passed by thousands and thousands of runners, which was a bit demoralizing, but I passed a lot back over the course of the last 6 miles.  Just kind of cruised along and enjoyed everything.  Stopped twice for two bathroom stops.  Thoroughly enjoyed Wellesley and really enjoyed the last 5 miles once I got through the Newton Hills.  The last mile was really great.

Hopefully I haven't done too much damage to my body and I can get back to running and really training after a week or so off.  I just need by body to hold up.  My whole time back here has been great.  This was my fourth year in a row, but we just have a lot of fun so we keep coming back......baseball game, hockey game (I strongly suggest a NHL playoff game.  It's a cool experience).  Lots of bad eating and walking around, which isn't ideal prior to a marathon, but one day I'll do better.  I'd just really love to be in great shape when I come run this thing again.

Great Job Jeff! Like Rob said, just being there would've been amazing. Glad you got to go and finished faster than your goal that day.

Good race, glad you are satisfied with the result. Sounds like you really took in Beantown and had a fun experience!

ha ha we had the opposite experience in wave two corral four...no way to speed up ..forced to run a 7:45 to 8pace which sucked a lot of the adrenaline out of me since I had been up since 2 am waiting 8.5 hours for the race to start!! You ran a great even time!! I was wondering how it would be up there...I would have been stomped on!! how ever did you find the potties??
