"Engaging in a little suffering — however self-imposed, arbitrary and contrived — before breakfast each morning tends to demand some humility and injects some marked relief into the rest of the day, making things sharper, more inspired, more immediately aware of the powerful presence of being. And that seems really worthwhile." A. Krupicka
"I cruised down hills, churned up hills, and floated over the asphalt, existing in a world that seemed to lack the confinements of such ubiquitous rivets as time, obligation, or pain. I knew then that this was destined to be one of those serendipitous runs for which so many of
us strive yet so rarely achieve." J. Nevels

3.5 miles / from work. Sun, warmth etc. Well, something's up with my body. Yesterday I was wiped out. I probably accumulated 3 hours of extra sleep throughout the day as all I wanted to do was lay down and sleep all day. I have days where I'm tired and need a nap, but yesterday was different. Today's run was a struggle every step of the way. I had to focus just to keep from walking. I have no idea what's going on. I can't blame high mileage or diet...just have to try again tomorrow. 10 miles easy / from work. Sunny, warm. Phew! Looks like Monday's little episode was an anomaly - felt just fine today. Still, I'd like to know what caused the fail. I'd hate to encounter that on race day. I'm a little sleepy today due to several nights now of 3 or 4 hours of sleep per night. Broken sleep at that. 8:47 avg. WT 40.2 miles

7 miles / easy. From work. I couldn't get out until 11:00 today and it was very warm. After 3 miles I did 10 x 30 second hill repeats on Golden Ave.

7 miles easy from work. Sun, warm etc. A week from tomorrow I'm pacing a friend at Leadville for 50 miles, so I'm okay with low and slow miles this week.
