PT release day. Feels pretty weird not to be going after 3 months. Got a lot of movement back. Not 100% but very functional.

Solid run. Building long run by time. 75' this week. 90' next week. Not sure from there.
I "watched" Riley Cook qualify for the Olympic Trials. He's been chasing this goal for 10 years. It was pretty exciting. He was on 2:16 flat pace though about 22 or 23 miles. End up just over 2:17 with a slight "Paul Petersen fade," or at least that is how I think Jake Krong (in complete homage) once described someone running 5:15s to running 5:30s.

Misjudged the route a bit. Was supposed to be 65' but it was 75'. Had to hustle to get to Southfield for class.

Solid workout, which I was scheduled to do this morning but I actually slept in and Megan had the boys and I had a meeting and Megan had to leave for a meeting. Was very thankful to get this in and I felt a good deal better after.

Checked out the small trails in the subdivision woods for the first time in a bit. Somone has built a few jumps :-). Nice to be done teaching for the semester at one insitution.

I slept in quite late as Megan got up with the boys. A beautiful night's rest after an epic nap yesterday has me feeling pretty good. Reconned a tempo loop at Orion Oaks, but the footing and elevation just won't work. I prefer packed dirt loops, and I have workouts supposed to be starting back up this week. I'll keep planning and thinking.

Steady zone 2. Felt good. Megan ran for a bit while I rode as the boys were at their friends. We have done this perhaps 2-3 times at most to workout together in the basement.

Legs were pretty tired. HR seemed a bit elevated. The final push for grades as they are due at 10 tomorrow morning. Submitted around midnight. I still have my Lawrence Tech grades to do, but those will be easy.

40' up, 20' steady, 40' down
Pace was pretty pedestrian (~7:44) but effort was good (165 BPM). Did this on my new tempo loop that I forgot I had worked out the first spring we were here. Worked fine, but it was slippery even with screw shoes.
Shifted back to workouts this week. I was supposed to do 2 x 10' @ 1 hour race effort earlier in the week, but just didn't get there.

REALLY good ride. A little anxious with impending travel (and a snowstorm I guess), but we will just have to figure it out.
Planned last night to do the Fat Bike Challenge segment, but bailed on it. I wasn't sure about the conditions to get to the park and wasn't going to drive. I will either do it tomorrow or skip it and try to get my midweek running workout in.

2 x 10' @ 1 HR Race Effort
Cold and icy. Ran in screw shoes, which potentially flared up my morton's neuroma. It isn't bad but I can feel the first indications of it and I don't want to mess with it. I might run in Maine, but will likley just reset.
Workout mostly by feel as prescribed, just checked the HR and was shooting for around 175 BPM for each interval without any sense of pace.
Interval 1: 6:49 pace @ 173 BPM
Interval 2: 6:48 pace @ 176 BPM
I'll take it, but I wish my foot wasn't feeling off.
We drive to Maine tomorrow trying to outrun a snowstorm.

Got to Maine a little after 7 I think it was. The boys were ready to be done. Not as easy as it once was, but that is a lot to ask them.

Foot is feeling better. I have been wearign a metatarsal pad as I do when the issue crops up in my regular shoes and my house shoes. I was limping slightly on our first or second travel day, possibly both.
We had a quiet dinner with just my parents, though siblings were over earlier in the day. It is a revolving door of people at my parents' house as it has always been.

Travel to New York. I think we ended up in Rochester. The boys were up late and passed out, so Megan and I watched TV with them sleeping in the room. It was one of the memorable nights in a hotel.

Felt okay. Foot has been just fine. The typical exhaustion of travel and holidays sets in beginning of semester sets in. Same old patterns. Same old Jason. Managed to hit 500 hours of cycling this year.
