Wore my Vibrams for the first time in 7 or 8 years to amuse myself. Concentrating on running nothing higher than 140 BPM for the next 4 months. This is what it took today. I put the alarm on my watch, which I haven't used in a long long time as its uses are pretty limited.

Couldn't keep HR down even jalking at 14' pace, so I pulled it. I was going to incline walk, but got crashed mentally and could only think about being in bed, so that is what I did. Mentally took a sharp down turn.

Not much better than the previous day mentally or physically, but I got back into the doctor's and got on steroids and an inhaler. Thankful for them fitting me in and good health insurance and a flexible schedule.

Last day of regular classes. Ran when I got home at lunch. Physically better and mentally much better. I assume the mental drop was the 100 MPH to 0 MPH exercise crash (went from 105 miles and 15-17 hours of exercise to nothing) coupled with end of semester stress.
Run was good but very slow, which I don't really care about. Nothing but slow sub-140 HR running for a number of weeks. I will return to workouts some day when my weight drops back down and I am able to run sub-140 HR for 8:00-8:15 pace.

Did 60' @ 15% incline. The purpose was to sweat without getting my HR too elevated. Cough still present. Hoping the next few days of steroids knocks it out. I'm tired of it.

Lower 20s and around 18MPH winds. Felt decent. Cough is somewhat better, but whatever it is it's serious business as I only have a few days of steroids and I think it will still be slighly longering. Not sure when I will feel normal again. Much faster than 11-12' does not feel appropriately easy.

Freaked out on some idiot driving too fast up to a stop sign in a school driveway pulling on to a side street. Last day of steroids tomorrow. Still coughing a bit, but it's mostly mild.
Hit 700 miles on my Saucony Freedoms. They are ripping, but the cushioning is still excellent.

It was sunny and working toward 50 degrees with light winds, so I had to get out on my bike. Enjoyed the ride even though I am way out of shape. Slammed down a Chipotle burrito and went grocery shopping and then went running with Megan about 90 minutes later. I guessed my average HR within 1 beat per minute for the run.
Plan is to ride tomorrow (temps around 51), and hopefully Thursday. I'd like to hit some more dirt roads than cinder urban trails and tar that I did today.

Beautiful day out. It was around 57 when I left. I rode to downtown Rochester and did the Thursday Night Dirt B-Group loop. Gravel was in pretty solid shape. I really wasn't sure what it would look like with all the temperature changes. Didn't get out until later as I was quite hungover and rode for a bit in the dark with the aid of my lights, which I spent a lot of money on for that exact reason.

Did the full Thursday Night Dirt Route solo starting from Rochester Mills Brewing Company with the bonus miles of riding to the start and home. Mid-50s and dry. Had to get this in. Criminal not to. Definitely my last ride of the year and I doubt I will get any more gravel rides in for a while as this gift of weather will not last. Headed to Maine tomorrow for 6 days before the semester starts up.

We got about 8 inches of snow in Maine and the roads weren't fantastic earlier in the day, though they cleared pretty quickly. Did a bit of shoveling for my parents. We went to my nephew's birthday party and had a good time.
