Short-Term Running Goals:

-Find some good local races to run that will motivate me to stay in shape.

Long-Term Running Goals:

-Run a few fast marathons. Grandma's, St. George, and Boston are on my target list.

-Stay fit for a very long time. I believe what goes into making a competitive runner at age 60 is much different than age 20, just like what goes into making a good marathoner differs from a good sprinter. I hope that by taking care of my body, I can be very fast for my age as I get older.

Personal:

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I live in the Twin Cities with my family and am an Epidemiology PhD Student. Running is the only hobby I have time for :)

6:59 pace means progress, but I still felt tired and decided to pull the plug on the half marathon this weekend. I'd love to do it, but it just doesn't feel like the right time right now.

6:54 pace on west river. That's a good sign of a recovering body.

Longest run ever! 20.1 miles. And technically my fastest long run ever at 5:43 pace. The Gateway trail held to fashion and it was cloudy again this morning. Less people in the trail at 6:15. I just kept going and going, even against my better judgment when my Achilles started feeling a little tight. I finished the trail and ran a half mile on the road it pops out on, and it felt like the edge of the earth (probably because I've been living in a city). So pretty. A few of the mile splits are definitely bogus but I'll report them anyway: 6:41, 5:43, 5:48, 5:33, 5:31, 5:44, 4:55, 6:00, 5:05, 5:20, 6:01, 5:00, 5:55, 5:35, 5:41, 5:55, 5:35, 6:02. My tiredness at the end was due mostly to the mileage and lack of food. The pace wasn't really bothersome, even after feeling tired early.
