Ran down the marathon course this morning with Bill, James, and Steve.  I really didn't want to run the course because I don't like it much, but it is nice with a lot of downhill, so it makes for a good training run.  The last time I ran the course was during the marathon last fall which didn't turn out very good.  In fact seems like lately I've been able to run much faster on training runs compared to the actual race day on that course.

This morning we started up in Veyo and did the first 4 miles pretty easy, then Steve and I speed up a bit.  Bill took off from the start.  We stopped at Diamond Valley for water and I took a Cliff Shot, then I decided to do some tempo miles even though I did a 5 mile tempo run last night.

1-5:43

2-5:53

3-5:57- Caught Bill by the bottom of Winchester

4-6:47 Easy up through Winchester

7-6:10

8-6:13

Once I hit town I stopped and waited a few minutes for the other guys.  Steve came flying by pretty fast, he was doing a 10 mile tempo.  James also was running pretty fast, so he decided to pick it up more than he was planning on originally.  Bill and I ran a few easy miles, then picked it back up the last mile to the finish line.

The run was a little short of 20, so I added a little when I got home.

Ended up with a 6:52 average which I was pretty happy with.  Also happy that I got in a longer run and a decent week of training considering being pretty busy right now.

Looked good today. Glad you came even though you ditched me during the run.
