Had a crazy morning of "tri" training. Started out with a planned 2 or so hour ride. Ended up running into Mark Larsen who I'm told is the best cyclist in STG and one of the best in Utah. I passed him lol... about 1 mile after starting then 2 miles later he passed me. I then realized it was him. So I road up aside and introduced myself and asked to tag along. So out to Sand hollow we road chit chatting a long the way. It was fun to pick his brain about things. I had to turn around early to get back and do a run then pick up Myler. So at 20 miles out I flipped it (basically right at the lake entrance). Road solid back until I came into Washington and I got my first flat tire. Of all the days. I needed every second on my clock to get everything done before 11:30 to pick up the boy. So I changed the tire and lost about 7 min's but though it was still doable. Then started riding about a block and the new tube "blew up". Dang it! Now I'm in a situation. Started walking and hitchhiking but no luck. Finally called my wife and luckily she hadn't left for Vegas yet. So she was able to come pick up the bike and bring my running cloths. 35 mile ride before the flat.

8.6 mile run. I changed cloths in the truck then headed out for the run. Mik'L had taken the jogger to Myler's preschool so I could run there and then bring him home in it. So I was able to get in 3.9 miles before he was done with school then another 4.7 from school back home.

So after all the drama I only lost 5 miles of riding and .8 miles of running from my original plan. But the extra stress made it feel like much more. I've been dreading the flat tire thing... It sucks.

Way to improvise and make it all come together despite the adversities. Lesser men would have thrown in the towel. I must have missed it in a previous post, what specific tri(s) are you targeting?

Good question:) I had planned to do a full tri in Plam Springs at the first of December but with my wife doing so much out of town work the last month and a half I had to scratch that idea. So as of right now I'm only registered for the half ironman here in STG in May. But I'm trying to decide on a full. Coeur d'alene, Vineman, Texas. I'm just trying to see what will work best for us logistically as we have a baby coming at the end of April and most likely my wife won't come to any of the events.

You should do some tri's. Have you ever done them in the past. If not you already bike and run like a pro. Even if your so so in the water you'd still rock.

I'm sure you'll rock it in a full or half Ironman. I hear that its the people who can run who really end up doing well.

I've never done a tri. Would like to, but I'll need to learn how to swim. Someday.

Congrats on the new addition! Number 2 changes the dynamics a little bit.
