Went on a loop out in the fields today. It was hot and muggy and that made the run kind of suck. I was uncomfortably warm and just wanted to get done faster so I'd increase the pace but then because I was working harder I was hotter and hence the cycle kept repeating its self over and over. Hammy was tight but runnable. After I was done I weight myself and was a year low at 154.5. Still around 6lbs fatter than last year at this time but way under the stress zone so that makes me feel good.

Went to the club run tonight. I almost didn't go and it would have been a shame to have missed it. Not that anything grad happened but there was a cool breeze and I seemed to feel good tonight so that made the run more enjoyable. We did the parkway loop and there was a good turnout with all the lads there from the PV cross team.

Did a labored 6 miles around the Knolls and out into the fields. I felt like garbage and never could work into a good stride. I need to stop running in this pair of Landreths. The still feel like they have some miles left but I hate the way they roll... it's as if it takes more energy to run in them compared to any other shoe I own. Anyways now I'm off to go golfing in Richfield and then spend the weekend in Torrey where we will bless our baby this weekend.

Hammy was stiff and sore and I was tired so I did not run.

Went out and did the Knolls/ Bloomington Hills loop. On the way out I saw Logan at the park and stopped to chit chat. It was good to see the old boy and hopefully we can get together for some runs. The rest of the run was good other than I ate chili yesterday so I had 4 total bathroom visits this morning.

Took Myler in the baby jogger this morning. We did an out and back over through the Knolls and to the STG GC. He did one big spit up and then slept the rest of the time. He's the spit up king. The running was ok. My hammy is going through a more than usual sore phase so that sucks and it is way hot out. I'm not sure how I ever use to run so much and so hard in prior summers... it flat out just kills ya and I'm already way ready for fall.

Didn't get out until around 9:40 a.m so it was already hot out. I went to the Knolls and then out to the freeway and back around on the STG GC. The run ended up being at an avg of 7:13 pace. I didn't push it at all but I never let myself coast. By the time I was done I was way hot and ready for water. Glad to have gotten out because I won't be able to go to club tonight... I'll be at a 1 year olds b-day party.

Nice solid run today. I left the house and a couple blocks out I ran into a couple guys from my new ward who were just starting to head out. They are both trying to hit a BQ this fall at STGM. So they wanted to do around 7 miles at MP. We ended up going over 8 miles at around 7 min pace... faster than they wanted but both guys did a great job. I ended up hitting the 9 mile mark right in my driveway and doing the run at a 7:11 avg with the cool down. This actually was a really good run for me. The hammy didn't hurt much at all and I felt like the 7 min pace was easy. At times I just wanted to take off and see what the legs could really do... but it's not time yet. Got to get the hammy full strength before I start pushing things.

Mik'L had an early morning meeting so I had to tend the boy. He and I did a short run over to Bloomington Hills and back. Nothing real cool to write about today just a short little run.

Out to Flying J and back up the DC trail to River Road and on in to the house.  Total time was 1:14:38 for the run. Just took it smooth and tried to hold proper form though out the run. I need to get back into my core workouts as they seem to do wonders for running. Hammy was a touch sore but only the last mile or so.

Ran up to the back side of Stone Cliff and took a dirt road up that and then down through the houses to the main road and was about to Summit when I ran into Steven. So I talked him into coming with me back down around the DC and back home. Then I just gave him a ride home. The run was good and it was nice to have him for the last 6.7 or so.

Did a 4.3 mile warm- up over to the start through the Knolls and Bloomington Hills.

This is kind of funny actually. My first race since the St. George Marathon last October. Going into it I had no real intentions of "racing". I was going to push Myler in the baby jogger and just enjoy the run. That's why I ate pizza and soda all day beforehand and played two softball games at 7 and 8 p.m before the race. But Mik'L asked me at the start if I wanted her mom to push Myler and I decided to see what would happen if I tried to push the pace a little.

1. 5:15- Hit the first mile way faster than I even thought possible. The kid who won must have did the first mile 20 seconds faster because he went out way fast and had a good distance between us.

2. 5:30- I reel him in almost all the way and am licking my chops just waiting for the last mile so I can eat him up.

3. 5:45- My last mile heroics turned into real pain. I had a massive side ache and was going to barf at any second. So after only being a step back from the leader I had to just try and live to the finish. The side ache was bad and still hurt (this morning on my run- a day later).

some more painful seconds to finish off the 5k.

I was really naughty and only did .5 of cool down. After a race like this I should have done more.

Kind of a fun little evening. Not too bad considering I ran it last year in 16:00 (we did let up on the last mile last year but still) I was actually really surprised to see that I could even run that fast (not like it was good or anything).  But my training has been.... not for lack of a better word for the last 6 months. Anyways it was fun to feel the burn once more and also good to see so many people out to support their family at 11 p.m.

I had a bad side ache all run just like last night in the race. So pace was slow going. But I really wasn't too sore in the leg department. Glad to have got a run in as I now have a in-ground trampoline project to deal with and a couple softball games this evening.

Went over to the Knolls park and met up with Dave and his team. We did the cross country course out there and then I ran back home. I felt like crap. Just been working too much in the sun and then the softball two nights in a row kind of left the body aching all over. Anyways it was fun to see Dave for the first time in months and to see the sweet grass course they are putting together. I've been busy installing an in-ground trampoline with a cool pipe coming out the bottom that kids can slide down. It will all be way cool when it's done but work is slow in the heat.

Did the fields loop that I did a couple weeks ago with Paul and Ben. No watch but I felt like I was carrying a pretty good pace. On the 8th mile I was really running pretty strong... I'm guessing 5:40ish pace. Finished up and ran into those two guys who were finishing their run. Nice and overcast today but a little muggy.

Did a long run today for the first time in a long time. I went out with Dan and Paul from here in my new ward. We left the corner above the house and ran out into the Knolls around the schools then out past Blue Bunny onthe new parkway road to Sunriver. Then we went up along the freeway to Flying J and took the trail into Bloomington Hills and then over to River Road back to the house. We avg. 7:24 pace for the run... not bad for not running much at all and those guys did great holding basically MP or faster for them for all 17. Good job Ben and Paul. Now to do some more honey do's.

Was going to catch a club run but we will be cleaning the temple this evening and I wouldn't have time to get back... so I went out at 3 p.m this afternoon. Normally this would be suicide this time of year but it was overcast and a good wind helped cool me off. I just did an out and backish thing over to Bloomington Hills.

After getting back I decided to mow my lawn for the first time since we laid the sod a few weeks ago. It was kind of fun because both the mower and trimmer were brand new. As I was mowing away I realized this was the first time in my life that I was mowing my very own lawn (not in a rental, or parents or grandparents house). Our last house had fake grass in the back yard and rock around the side. So that made the chore even funner. Now if these clouds would stop faking it and just rain already it would be good for the grass.

Worked in the yard from just before 7 a.m. to after 6 p.m. It's looking good but I'm going to die if I have to do another day like this in the heat.

Into the fields around Stone Cliff then down the trail to Bloomington Hills- back through the Knolls and home. 7:21 pace for the run.

I started out slow and really felt like Monday ( I'm guessing not running on Fri, Sat, or Sun was one day too much). But around mile 4 I started to feel better and in the end was really running well. I kind of think I'm actually starting to get better but I don't wont to say that out loud or the hammy will hear me and start hurting again. Looking forward to a good week of running with a trip to Torrey  this weekend.

Basically the same loop as yesterday but without the Knolls finish. Avg of 7:15 min mile pace. Had a hard time getting things to flow today. I think a good run on the golf course in 5 fingers would help square me off. So I'll just need to get over there. Hot and dead days of summer here in the STG.

Another version of the Stone Cliff loop. This time I went down through St. James Place and into Bloomington Hills. For some reason the legs felt really trashed and I struggled to keep things going. During the run I just kept trying to relax and run easy but still ended up with a 7:20 avg. I would have liked to see that around 7:40 but I just couldn't relax. Now we are getting ready to head to Torrey for the weekend so I hope to get a few runs up there at altitude.

Wasn't going to run today because we drove from Torrey over to Manti to the temple and then golfed Palisades GC. It was a great day and I golfed really good and even chipped one if off the green.

Anyways I did 5 miles on the treadmill becasue it was windy and rainy out. Started out hitting the first mile in 8:35 and then worked into a mini tempo finishing at a 7:10 avg. Legs felt great and I was satisfied with the workout.

I got dropped off in Bicknell and ran back to Torrey. It was a sick trip. I ate a butt load of my aunts famous cheesey hash browns way too close to going out on the run. I was close to puking the whole trip and had to stop for a road side potty. Nonetheless I still avg. 6:58 and was just trying to keep things flowing but not push it.
