AM- 4 mile morning run

 

PM- Tough speed- after 1 mile of warm up and 1 mile of speed changes we did 3x1200's I hit them in 3:32 3:31 and 3:31, than 6 200's in 28, 30, 30, 29, 30, 28, did a cool down with tomy and we finished with 9 miles for the day

Did the westfest 5k today, i felt pretty good here are my splits

I felt pretty good during the race and started working it for the second half, i won by a beefy 47 seconds and was the first time i have ever broken 16:00 for a full 5k

We did the cemetery run, I got two laps to get to 8 miles, I went at a good pace but my legs were pretty sore, probably from cubing that race on saturday.

Am- 5 miles to the lookout at pipeline and back, my pace the way there was mor relaxed and i picked it up to 6:30 pace on the way back

Am- we went to sunnyside and everyone had already left, so I went to the glen and got 3.5 miles then ran above the zoo and back to sunnyside to get to 8. For about 3 miles of the run I was going inbetween 6:12 and 5:20 mile pace, finishe at 5:27 mile pace

Pm- Ran from my house to the track and did 4 barefoot X's (8 strides) and 10 hills with very little recovery, ran home and finished with a little over 4 miles

Pm- 6 miles starting on our region course, made Dakoto go from an 9:50 average pace to a 7:59 in about 3 miles

Am- Started at sugar house and did the cemetery run, did two laps in the cemetery with Clayton to get to 8

Pm- 5 miles starting at the Highland sign and going to the dog park and back, me and Clayton sped up to a 5:50 pace coming back

Am- 8 miles with the race the warm up and the cool down, once I started my legs couldn't move and I went out with a slow 5:08 first mile, I was in fourth at this point and Terren, Jake and one other guy were ahead of me, I passed the two mile in 10:28, so my second mile was about 5:20, I'm pretty sure jake gapped me (more) between the second and the third mile, I passed the 3 mile in 15:52, the finish was a lot farther away than I thought it was, and then I finished in 16:28, which is a lot slower than other times I have been racing lately, so I'm not very happy with my time, but after we went on a nice cool down

Am- did a 16 mile run with dakota, tomy and Natalie stayed with us for the 4 miles then they turned around because they didn't need very many miles, our run started at liberty park then went down 9th east to 3rd ave, up city creek and then up a really hilly trail the connected to the JCC shoreline trail, then back down Virginia St. To south temple, then back to 9th east to liberty, where we added to 16. Also, Happy Birthday Bill

Am- Ran the red pine lake trail, it was 6.25 miles. At first it was only a little bit steep, but then the incline kept increasing until I was hitting somewhere in the neighborhood of 13:00 miles

Am- we went to sugarhouse park and did a grass lap around for a warm-up, then we did hill loops by the road followed by 4 hill repeats on the state hill, I tried to stay with Tomy the entire time. After we did another lap for 8 then added 4.5 miles with tomy to get 12.5

Pm- went to sunnyside and did 5.5 miles with the team, the pace fluctuated a lot, we started at around 7:20 for the first mile, around 6:40 for the third, and the 7:30 for the fith

Am- 9 miles at wheeler farm with speed, after 2 1/2 miles of warm up and strides we did four 800's on the trail loop, (my times might be a little off because my garmin starts late sometimes) my splits were 2:24, 2:27, 2:26, 2:25, after we cooled down to 9 miles.

Pm- went to liberty for the night workout and did one lap warm up, one lap of firemen and one lap cooldown, after we added on and I got to 5 to be at 14 for the day.

Am- Started at the JCC,went to Alta into citycreek, then we we went up until we hit shoreline and back to the JCC parking lot for 10.5. Quite a splendid run

Pm- went to cottonwood complex with sarah, stormy, eden, and dakota, we did 10 minutes warm up very slowly then proceeded to do 4 strides up a nameless hill, we did the region course as coll down than added to 5.5

Am- today was the slurpee run! We started at sunnyside and hit 9 stops, the run was about 8 miles, i tried to stay with Tomy and Clayton but they were chugging the slurpee's at an inhuman pace, my average pace was still 6:15, so I feel pretty good about this run.

Am- 2 mile shakeout around the hood

Pm- first race of the tour de run, the 5k, didn't even get there until about 7:18, so i only got 1 mile warm-up and a couple seconds of stretches. Once the race started i sat with Jake and Josh, after a little more than a mile they started seperating from me, for the second mile I was mostly racing by myself with Jake and Jake in sight, and ended up passing the two mile mark in 9:59. The third mile was when i could start feeling how little of a warm up I got and started slowing down some, I passed the 3 mile mark in 15:31, then finished in 16:20(?), either the course was long or witchcraft. After a two mile cooldown with the team and two more miles when I got home to finish at 10 for the day.

Race: Tour De Run Day 2 (6.214 Miles) 00:34:32, Place overall: 3, Place in age division: 1

Am- showed up for day 2 of the tour de run day 2, today was the 10K and the 4.4 mile race. I warmed up 2 miles for the 10K, than had to tart right after leaving the bathroom. Once thr race started I was in position behind Jake and Josh, but I decided I didn't want to be too tired out for the second half and let them slip a little bit, the hill climb for this race was awful, I was hitting about 6:10 average pace up the hill. Once I was. Almost to the top of the hill Bill showed up on his bike and started pacing me, so I started hitting a faster pace, once we got to the mostly flat bike trail part my pace started speeding up back to 5:17 mile pace, I finished in 34:32 according to my watch.

After the 10K we went to have lunch, shop a little, and go back to the lake for an ice bath, I got about 1 and a 1/4 miles warm-up for the 4.4 miles. This race started much slower than the other ones and I was glad about it, because my legs weren't feeling very good befor the race. We went out with about a 5:06 first mile than I slowed down a lot because my legs weren't cooperating with me, Bill followed me on his bike again and got me to speed up, which is good. I can't remember exactly what my time was for this race, but my ave. pace was 5:34, so it wasn't fast. At the awards are team ( East high boys) got second overall! So we got a very lovely gift basket, I took third overall, and clayton took 7th for the top 10. Not far behind was chris kearl and dallen, who finished the top in their age group.

Pm: very slow 2.1 miles to hot even mileage for the week

Am- went to wheeler farms today, we did 2 and a 1/2 miles of warm-up followed by strides, and then fartlek. During the fartlek my legs were still hurting a bit so I didn't stay with Tomy, but I kept up with Natalie which is still an accomplishment. After we cooled down to get to 10 for the morning

Pm- we went to jordan river parkway and did 5 miles, it was raining the entire time, which was kind of nice.

Am- Today was the Draper Days 5K. After I warmed up about 2 1/2 miles I got to the line, the front was pretty packed and everybody had to go through a narrow chute right after starting. The first mile was pretty hard, I got a pretty good start but the front guys ( Jake, Tomy, Josh, Terren and a few others) were going fast for the firsy mile. I was about 4:49 for the first mile and the lead guys were about 4:43. The second mile hurt the most because it had the most downhill, which isn't working with my legs. Kramer passed me at about 2 1/2 miles and gapped me a little. I finished at about 16:04, which is an Ok time. After The team cooled down about 2 1/2 mile to finish at 8.

Pm- Got a late night 3 miles in

Am- Went to wheeler farms and we did speed. First we did 2 miles of warm up followed by 10 strides. The workout was 400, 800, 800, 800, 400. The times weren't supposed to be really fast,the goal times were 75 for the 400's and 2:30 for the 800's. my actual times were 70, 2:26, 2:27, 2:27, and somewhere around 72 or something for the last 400. My legs were really sore, so I'm gonna take an ice bath tonight. We finished off with 2 miles cooldown to get to 8 for the entire workout.

Am- Today was the bike and run. There were many setbacks on my side of the partnership. 1 I grabbed the wrong bike and did an extra mile of biking 2 dropped the bike and whacked my shin ( hahahahaha) 3 the bike broke on the last mile so I had to run the last half mile with the bike. Despite that Garek and I still won! After, cooled down with sarah and eleanor for 8 miles of running.

Am- 15 mile run at Jeremy Ranch Road with Tomy, Jake, Kevin, Sarah and a bunch of other people. Struggled the last 5 miles to stay with the lead group because I was super thirsty, but it was all good.

Am- Did a hill workout at sugarhouse park because it is officially hill week. First we did 3 repeats up and 3 repeats down the first part of the state course, after we did 4X poker hill and 4X the state hill loop. after we cooled down to get to ten.

Am- 6 out and 6 back on the puke hill trail to get to 12, I always forget there are more hills AFTER the puke hill, and basically the entire run. But the trail is always gorgeous.

Am- we went to pipeline and did the swithbacks, this too was also harder than I remeber it being, me and Clayton finished to eight

Am- we went to the JCC to do the hardest workout of hill week. But today's workout was especially hard because my hamstrings were feeling extremely bad, the hills hurt like none other and I was going really slow. After I finished to 11.

Am- My alarm clock didn't go off this morning so I had to do a hill workout by myself this morning. I ran to the track, stretched and did another mile then went straight to the hills. I did 5X the soccer field hill followed by 5X the hill next to the Track parking lot, and then finished up with 5X the hill next to that one. I kept the running at under 6:20 pace, so that's pretty tasty.

Pm- very painful 5 miles to get to 10 for the day.

Am- Practice was a Liberty Park today. We did a lap of warm up then strides. Our workout was 1 mile followed by two 800's, my goal times were 5:00 for the mile and 2:30's for the 800's. My actual times were 4:58, 2:22, and 2:27, after we cooled down to 10.

Pm- 8 miles with Garek and Clayton, we stopped and did speed changes on the track during the run.

Am- Went fot 4 miles in the morning, then we went on our annual team hike, then I added on 2 miles afterwards.

Pm- Today was also our annual alumni run and BBQ. The race is to decide who is on varsity for our upcoming races. It stays mostly on the state course until you turn before going around the lake for the second time. It was more of a tempo run than an actual race but it was still fun, Garek came in 2nd with a good time of 15:31, followed by Andy and Nate, who also had good times.

Am- Today was the premier invite. I was really excited for this race and so were a lot of people. After about 4 miles of warm-up the race started. The first mile was pretty good, the mile mark was actually 1.09, passed by it in 5:33. But right after we turned off the road and onto the trail my foot hit a rock and twisted my ankle, I stumbled a little and had to slow down, I rolled the SAME ankle two more times and twisted it AGAIN, by that point I was jogging in the course and finished with a disapointing 16:23 for 2.8 miles. Cooled down on the course again to get to ten.

Am- Today we went to Liberty park to have a dutch oven breakfast, but first we had to do a speed workout. The workout was 2 1 mile repeats at 5 minute pace, and then an 800 at a slighty faster pace. My ankle and quad were still very sore from the race, but my times were

Am- First morning team practice of the year, we went to sunnyside, then up to foothill, down to 13th, then back up to.the track. After we did 10 hill strides on the soccer field and ate a delicious breakfast cooked by Bill.

Pm- followed up the morning practice. After 1 1/2 miles of warm up we did 3X1600 on the track with two ls recovery inbetween. My times were

Mile1- 4:51

Mile 2- 4:49

Mile 3- 4:49

Overall it was a pretty good workout, after we did 2 miles cooldown then I ran home for 9 miles.

Pm- went to fairmont and did strides, after that we added mileage at liberty and back, 9 miles in all, after I ran home for ten.

Am- met with the team and did a warm up, then did chases. We did 3X 400&200 sets, I don't have my 200 times but my first 400 was around 60 seconds flat, after I knew thaat pace was to hard for a morning workout, so the next were 62, then 64. After we had a breakfast then went to school.

Pm- we did drill laps with lunges, power skips, buttkicks, high knees, and grapevines both ways with stairclimbs on the other side ot the track. After we did a shortish slow run just to relax.

Am- after watching other races and a lot of warm-up, the varsity boys race started. I was shooting for a course record time, but on the second set of hay bales, I tripped and landed on my hip and busted up my quad, I could really race after that so this was a really disappointing race for me, it's the SECOND time this has happened so it's getting pretty frustating when you work really hard and then any effort is thrown away with one stupid mistake. The rest our team ran pretty well though. After I got a short coo down with Jakob, Toph, and Will before going home.

Am- today was the BYU Invitational, after a good 4 miles of warm- up watching other peoples race, the varsity team got to the line. My first lap was great, a little over a mile in 5:05, after the second a could feel a tinge in my legs and I fell back a little, by the end my hamstring felt like it was was going to snap, pretty sure it wasn't, though. Probably my shoes, I'm getting new ones soon, though. After I cooled down by myself then with emmaline and Jal Wal.

Pm- Today we had a speed workout, it was 1600, 800, 400, 400, 800,1600. I had a terrible workout, i was 5:08, 2:29, 70, 74, 2:37, 5:28. The entire team had a bad workout, and I don't know why. after I cooled down to 8 for the workout.

Pm- we had a tri-meet against judge and bountiful today. We warmed-up running to liberty park and then doing parts of the course, our team did great overall, we got 1 and 3 in the girls race and 1 and 2 in the boys race. I was just trying to keep a relaxed tempo in this race and I think it worked out pretty well, after I cooled down to get 13 for the day.

Am- Today was the Wahsatch rendezvous, after about 4 miles of warm- up and watching all the seperate varsity races i went to the line to race, I held back at the beginning and surged to get up with Sam Sorensons, after that we exchanged leads a little bit, then I took the lead after mile 1 until about 2.8 milles in, that's when Sam outkicked me at the end, after the race we got on the bus and went home, Where I got two miles of cooldown.

Am- Nice and easy 4-mile run

Pm- Today we did a speed workout. We started out with a mile warm-up, then did 3 odd grass loop, in which you went up a grass hill 4 times in about 250 meters. After that we did a 200, 300, and a 400, which was a 66. After that we went to sunnyside park and did 4X800 on the grass, my times were 2:17, 2:18, 2:17, 2:18. Then we went back to the track and did another 400, 300, 200, and finished with 5 asphault hills and 1 mile cool-down.

Pm- after 6 miles of warm-up because we had 3 1/2 hours of waiting for our race, we got to the line. The race went out out ridiculously fast. I was running with Kramer Morton for the first lap, then he moved up to the lead pack and I ran with Brady Early for the next lap, the last lap was painful but I kept the pace, I didn't have (much) of a kick at the end of this race because I was still a little bit sore from Wednesday, but I think I ran a decent time, I didn't do well place-wise though, so that's something to work on.

Pm- Speed workout today, we started out doing a mile warm up followed by 5 hill repeats. After we did 2 200's and a 400 at an easy warm up pace. Then we did a mile on the track, which I hit in 4:52. After we went to sunnyside and did four grass 800's, which I hit in 2:22, 2:20, 2:19, and 2:19. After we went back to the track and did another mile, which I hit in 4:57. Then we went back down with a 400 and 2 200's. After we did 5 asphault hills and a mile cool down to get 10 for the day.

Am- 2 mile shakeout run, my legs were still sore, but a lot less than on wensday.

Pm- today we had the Park City Invitational, after about 5 miles of warm-up and some strides our team got our box. Once the race started I got a pretty good start, no one went out at a ridiculous pace which is what usually happens. After about 400 meters I took the lead and kept it for about 1.5 miles, after I faded a little. I caught back up to the lead group at 2.5 but I didn't have the kick I needed to pass ahead of people and ended up in 6th. Overall it was a good, and 36 seconds faster than last year. After we got about 2 mile cooldown and went to eat dinner. Garek , Eleanor, and Sarah on our team also had good races, and our team was top 10 on both the girls and boys sides, so it was a good day for our team overall.
