The 24 hour run was a huge success and I ended up running faster and a lot more than I expected. It was freezing cold and hit around 24 degrees at the coldest part of the night. We were all bundled up and freezing under the bleachers in a room. There was a lot of good food that I ate too much of and was getting severly punished for after i finished each mile!!! I felt like my stomach was going to explode. I ended up getting more sleep than expected with around an hour. I wanted a high mileage day but was not expecting on getting 20!! It was great, Me and Derreck hit mile 20 just as the team was hitting mile 200. The 24 hour run is basically a massive relay race where there is one person running a mile at a time on the track. We time all of it and keep track of our splits witch is nice, it always ends up being one of the funnest parts of the season. Sometimes we do shorter intervals that equal up to a mile in large groups such as 2X800's, 4X400's, and occasionally 16x100's. I ended up doing 3 2x800's and I think a 4X400. When we do those we do multiple at the same time sowe all get a mile, so in the 2x800's and such each of us runs an 800 hands the baton to the other person, they hand the baton back to you, and you hand it back to them before handing it back to another person or relay group to run their miles. My splits were: 5:44, 6:01, 6:20, 6:02*, 6:16, 6:05*, 6:31, 6:20, 6:18 6:15, 6:34, 6:40, 6:34, 6:29, 6:23, 5:47*, 6:18*, 6:02, 6:14, 6:08. With my split time all added up I did it in 2 hours 5 minutes and 1 seconds which is a 6:15 average pace. *The mile was the 2 or 4 splits from my relay added together.
