AM: 2 miles on the TM just for fun! Hip surgery #2 scheduled a week from today. I cannot wait to get it over with and officially get on the up and ups. I am now soliciting ideas for how to stay sane the second time around!

PM: Kettlebell workout and 5 apartment/stairs laps on crutches.

15 minutes on the home bike with a little bit of hip surgery to follow. I have a 1pm OR time and I really, really need a coffee! Cheers to getting this hip fixed for reals this time.

Happily cruising at 10 degrees on the CPM. I guess everything went well with my surgery yesterday. I was really afraid that they were going to go in and find the joint totally messed up, but the cartilage and the FAI repair I had last year looks great. The only problem was the super lax ligaments and they were shortened with what looks like climbing rope. Since my joint was so loose and easily dislocated, my doc thinks all of my hip and knee issues were related to that. My hip flexor, quad, IT band were all trying to do the job of the ligaments to hold my hip in place and they haven't been doing that great a job.

I don't remember having so much pain with the last surgery. I had a really rough time post-op so they gave me a nerve block and I still have no sensation in my quad, which is kind of creepy. A huge thanks to my friends Nancy and Elliott for being there during my surgery and for Andrea and Jake for letting me crash at their house. More specifically thanks to Jake for offering me the healing powers of his wolf blanket and to Andrea for making me eat and take drugs. I seriously have the bestest friends in the world.

Got up to 45 degrees on the CPM and watched 9 episodes of Parks and Recreation today. Had to take off my anti-nausea patch this afternoon and the results haven't been very good so far :( Cannot wait until I can handle a big greasy piece of The Pie!!!

Had to quit the pain pills and ibuprofen cold turkey because I can't keep anything down :( As if hip surgery isn't fun enough in itself. Rough day, only 8 episodes of Parks & Rec.

Officially on the up and ups beginning today. Up to 70 degrees on the CPM, pain under control with ice and ibuprofen, showered, and successfully stomaching solid foods.

Only 4 episodes of Parks & Rec today after reading the first Harry Potter book and doing my taxes. Permitted to start doing partial weight bearing on the crutches so I took several little walks and was surprised at how much weight the op-side could handle. Obviously I did too much and was punished with a nasty pain flare up and little sleep. CPM up to 85 degrees.

1 week down 5 more to go until I can ditch the crutches, 9 more weeks until I can get on my bike, and 11 more until RUNNING!

Apparently my hip is now held together with what looks like climbing rope. I sure hope they know what they are doing. 95 degrees on the CPM.

Nurse Andrea took me out for coffee this morning. She has been absolutely amazing to me this past week and I thank the world for her! Then I maxed out my CPM, outlined an entire new life plan complete with bullet points and everything, and am close to booking a trip to the Dominican Republic!!! Feeling good! I think I am ready to get back into the real world. Amazing what coffee can do!

Ummmm, so this actually sounds fun: Ragnar Relay Hits the Trails.

Nothing new and exciting. Back to work for a few hours yesterday and going to attempt a full day today. Crutching to the bus stop has been super fun! I just bought some crutch crampons to keep me off my bum during my commute and a pedometer for a little motivation to keep me off my bum at work.

2 weeks down and only 10 more to go until return to FUN! I am celebrating by playing hooky from work and staying elevated. Seriously, my entire being hurts. Get to start PT tomorrow and hopefully he will let me get on the bike. Can hardly contain my excitement!

Crutched 0.37 miles according to my fancy new pedometer. Dorky I know, but I want to be able to log something :) Pretty good seeing as I never left my house. Also did 4 complete revolutions on the bike trainer before I got scared and thought I shouldn't be doing this yet.
