| | Umm.. So this is my first blog post and I don't actually know what to say and stuff so I will try my best... Today we ran just past the fire station from Washington Elementary. I haven't ran in a long long time so it wasn't amazing. I felt like I was going really slow. It was good for my first day back though. After practice Coach Roberts took me to the high school in his hippie truck and that was quite possibly the coolest ride of my life! That's all... | |
| | Today's run was a lot better than yesterday's. I think I'm starting to get back into the groove of running everyday. It still wasn't super easy but better. Kids camp was... Something. It was fun at first. We started playing games and such. Then a girl came up and asked to use the bathroom. So I had to take her to the rec center. Not 2 minutes after we got back her twin and another girl had to go. Greattt. I just told them to hold it cause there was only like 5 minutes left. So yeah... |
| | Today I felt a LOT better. It didnt hurt near as bad as the last 2 days. The hills weren't very fun but I ran at a faster pace and I was able to keep a pace. It was a good run.. | |
| | I only went two today because I took two days off due to youth conference. It felt pretty alright but I was very tired. Alright day.. |
| | Today was good run. It felt really good! Tomorrow I will hopefully attempt 3 miles, try to keep up with the older girls. | |
| | Finally went 3! woo hoo! At the beginning of the run I had a side ache but it wasnt too bad. I stayed up with the girls group until they turned at the park. Me and Josie ran the rest of the way alone but it felt great! | |
| | Today I woke up and went to Washington elementary to find no one there. Then I remembered it was at Bloomington and since i was already late I just went home and ran around my neighborhood. It was definitely not as fun as practice. Next time I shall remember where practice is... |
| | .5 mile warm up. Then 1 mile warm up. Felt alright. The test thing was good. I got 1290. Definitely some improvement is needed. It felt pretty good though. 1 mile cool down. Today felt pretty good. | |
| | .5 mile warm up barefoot. We went down to the park by the softball fields to do grass runs. They felt really hard. I didn't feel good at all. I ran 6 laps (2 miles) then did 8 striders. It was very tiring. My arch killed when I finished. I rubbed and rolled it and now it feels much better. I assume that it was just because it was my first grass run this summer. I would like to prove a point that going back through my sisters blog she did spell though wrong in one of her posts. She forgot the u and this will go down in history. |
| | I did NOT want to go 3 today. From the very first hill (the starting point of the run) I felt like crap. It was terrible. I felt out of breath and my throat was way dry. I was only going to go 2 but Roberts talked me into running 3. The huge hill wasnt terrible but wasn't fun. I'm glad I decided to go 3. Pretty much the worst run of my life... Yeah. |
| | Today was a killer workout. 15 minute test thing. I got 1 mule and 1440 meters. I ran with Josie the 1st mile and we were gradually gaining on people. When we caught up to kaelie she stayed with us and we ran the last 1440 meters together. We were all pushing each other and it was really great! We sped up a little when coach said 3 minutes left but I don't feel like I went as fast as I could have. I had my watch with me and when it said 15 seconds left I pushed it real hard. It was a good run. Felt good. We had 1 mile there and 1 mile back an yeah so it was good. | |
| | Today we did the 30/30s. It was good. I ran around 30 something times. My distance didnt seem hard enough. I feel like I might of been able to go farther. I ran a warm up 1 MILE. I didn't have one to do a cool down because of kids club but I think I ran around enough times to make up for that. My calf started feeling tight after the run an kids club so I rolled and stretched it. Kids club was fun with the race and such. |
| | 1st time going into the 4 mile... Boundaries? Yeah, sure. Well I died. Seriously died. But coach always wants us to blog so this is for you coach. We ran aroun the a shortened version of the dirt mile (1k meters) 3 times trying to hit our times. I was supposed to hit 6:08. But I got 5 flat, 5:35, and 5:15. The last one was faster because me and Josie stayed up with Mia, Liz, Kaelie, and Masceram (I have no idea how to spell). It was actually a decent workout. Not really feeling the farther distances but whatever. (: Michael Stanely Finch came today and presented his senior will. He's leaving soon (as you all most likely know) and I've decided that its a possibility I might miss him. |
| | Grass runs. Very tiring. Seems like the workouts are getting harder. I mean, they are, but not in a good way harder. Striders sucked. Not a very good run today. Hopefully tomorrow will be better. Kids club was fun. We have a girl in our group and I'm pretty sure she could school any of anyone in a race. Holy moly she's fast! | |
| | Dirt thousand with a mile warm and cool. I did 3ks and got 5:21, 5:50, and 5:45. I'm pretty sure. It was a fun run. I felt good during it. I like this run. Yeah. That's all... Ps. Dear Coach... I will not be here the ret of the week because of a soccer camp that lasts all day but I will be running much so don't be worried. -your favorite soccer player |
| | Since I have soccer conditioning in the morning I had to go to afternoon practice which was 104 degrees. I couldn't breath very good and my legs were killing me but I finished. JP and Mis were kind enough to stop with me a few times so I could try to breath better. It was pretty bad... Yeah. So that's all. | |
| | Warm-up to harts (1.5) then we raced 2 miles. I felt I did really good. I started out right behind Dani but after passing her caught up with Megan and we took turns pushing each other. I felt especially confident on the hills. At the last stretch Ali was a little bit in front of me and Megan and then I kicked it in and caught up to Ali. She barely beat me and I came in as 4th girl with a time of 14:45 I think. Maybe it was 14:24. I'm not sure except I think it was the first one. Then harts cool (1.5). I didn't do striders because my ride was leaving me, but I have soccer practice at 9:30 and were doing the beep test so maybe coach won't hate me. Overall I think I did good today. | |
| | Hol-y Heck! Quite possibly the worst run of my life. It was the farthest I've ever gone and I wanted to die the entire time. We ran 2 miles out then started our tempo, which was a bad idea. We finished our 3 miles out and when we turned around the river was right by us. So we took off our shoes and walked around the river for a short while until the rest of the girls finished going out 4 and turned around. We met up and it was all downhill from there. I started out with the girls ten fell back and actually ended up walking a little. I felt weak and my legs were dead. Hopefully long runs get better for me. After practice I went and got a shot, AND I didn't even cry! |
| | I think it was 4 miles. We ran at little valley park and ran around the field 5 times which was 3 miles. I ran with Macey and we had a grand old time talking of long-bearded men and some unknown video game I'm pretty sure Macey made up. It was hilarious. Then we ran around the corner and went to a small hill that turns into a big hill. We went up the hill for 30 sec. 3 times and up the hill for 1 min. 4 times. The hills were good. I felt pretty strong. Today was a very good run. Also me and Macey played on the playground and it was quite fun. Good run today! | |
| | Warm up to harts. 6k's around the stadium. I probably only went about 3 miles or something. It was definitely not my best run. My akelies (or however you spell it.) has been hurting me a lot and after 2k's it was hurting much. I went onto my 3rd one and it was on fire. It hurt so bad. I had to stop after 3 and coach told me to ice it. Then when I got home I iced it again and after soccer practice I iced it again. Each for about 20 minutes. Oh and I wasn't supposed to hit 5:14. But my times were: 4:31, 4:59, and 5:07. |
| Race: |
Cedar All-comers (3 Miles) 00:21:20, Place overall: 14 | | First 3 mile and first high school race. Holy moly. I will start from the beginning. I didn't ride the bus because I had soccer and so my mom was just going to pick me up early from that and drive me up. So I was a little late for the warm up. I just ended up running around the track once with the girls but that was fine with me because I HATE warm up and cool downs. I seriously hate them with all of my heart. If I had a choice between running a 3 mile race without warm up and cool downs or just doing the warm up and cool downs I would choose the race because they are the worst thing ever invented. Anyway, we did our agilities (or however you spell it) and jogged over to the starting line. I wasn't as nervous as I though I'd be but I still had a little butterflies. We prayed and then got ready to start and Mia was giving us a small pep talk and I asked a question and when she turned around to answer it they blew the gun! So we all had a bit of a late start but it wasn't a big deal. We started running and I felt alright. The nerves had left and I just kinda started running. By the time I was on the other side of the soccer net thing I was in such a good mood! I was thinking "this is so fun!" And other lies like that however I was being positive so that's good. I felt great! I was passing people and getting up there with Megan and kaelie. When I got on the track for the first time I started passing people more and more it was a great feeling! I didn't really have any problem with any hills except for when I passed the starting place on the grass and those tiny hills just killed me. I kept passing people and kind of settled into the place I got, on the end of the second lap. The last lap was when my brain started asking me "what the heck are you doing ya crazy! I'm hurting over here!" But I just told it if you don't have anything nice to say don't say nothing at all! And the last stretch in between the tennis courts and baseball field coach was standing there and yelling at me saying "your the fastest one out there go get those girls!" I sorta sped up right there but once I passed him I didn't have a lot of motivation to kick it in at the end. When I got to the track there were two girls like 20 meters in front of me and I wanted to catch them but I just didn't. I got 14th overall. 3rd on the team and my time was 21:20. I pretty much died after. I was overjoyed and wanted to puke at the same time. After the race me and Josie went on a cool down and I'm pretty sure we are the only ones who did so because we were like last on the bus. My performance today made me really happy and I hope I can help the team win region or maybe even state.
| | Morning practice could not have gone better! It was the 1st time I went to morning practice before school very early! I felt really really good! It wasn't hot at all and was a way fun run! We had a group of 6ish. Me, Mia, Liz, Josie, Ali, and Kealie. We did plyos after. Today was a good run! |
| | Morning practice was not super great. I did 2 K's and my Achilles started killing me. I stopped and stretched it. Warm up and cool down of 1 mile. Not a lot to report. I had soccer practice this afternoon and my Achilles was hurting me again so I took it easy and didnt run too much. So yeah. |
| | I got tendonitis in my Achilles and so I haven't been running in races or practice but I might be able to race this Saturday so I'm pumped for that and yeah. I felt like I should kinda update today... |
| Race: |
Grass relays (2 Miles) 00:14:35 | | Grass relays! Yay! My first varsity trip! We drove up Friday and stayed in the holiday inn. When we 1st arrived at the course it was Josie's run. Then Paul and Preston, then Nicole and then Colton and Reed. THEN it was finally my race. Everyone did way good. I was nervous for my race. Liz started off then it was Mia then me then Ali and lastly Megan. Liz started and ran very well. Then Mia ran and did good as well. I was quite nervous for the handoff cause I have never done one. It went well and after the handoff some girl was right next to me from East. I stayed with her then on the 1st hill right by the track I got in front of her but she got right back up with me and eventually passed me. I just didnt have it in me to get up with her so she started creating a gap and I never caught her. A utes girl caught up to me and passed me and when around the little circle part I caught her and she never passed me again. :) on the last half mile some girl in black booked it and passed me. I finished alright. It wasn't how I wanted it to go. I wants to have a lot more left in me I just didn't. Darn it. I did get 14:35 in my own though and not having run for 1 1/2 weeks cause of my Achilles I think I did decent. Yeah. It was a good race though. The haybales were my favorite! |
| | No school today so we had morning practice at 7. We had 1.5 mile warm and cool. Then did 6k's. coach only had me do 3 cause I'm just getting back from injury an stuff. It was good. My times were all fast but I didn't go out way to fast an be dead tired the rest if the workout so that's good. Me an Megan only went 3 together. It was good. On our cool down I took off my brace before an then it hurt a little on the cool down so I'm going to continue to wear my brace. It was a really good workout today. I felt I pushed myself pretty good. The car wash was great fun. Actually it really was fun. It's fun to be with the team rather then the soccer team because the Our team is a lot nicer and funner to be around. :) yeah. The car wash was fun! Goal time: 5:18ish (I didn't run the time trial because of my Achilles an so I just went with Josie's time. Times: 4:46, 4:46, and 5:01 |
| | Pretty sad that this is only my 2nd blog update this month but hey. 1 mile warm/cool and we did thousands on the track. We had 1, 2k and 1, 1k. I got 8:10 and 4:03(i think). On the 2k I started out with Mia and Liz and stayed with them the first 3 laps. On the fourth lap Mia started making a gap between both me and Liz and Liz started to push up too. I tried to stay with Liz best I could so i finished barely behind her. On the 1k I fell behind more with Ali. We pushed each other pretty much the whole way. Today was a good workout though. | |

Cedar Invitational. (2.9 Miles) 00:19:51, Place overall: 33, Place in age division: 3 | | Let me just say, BEST RACE EVER! My goal time was to break 21 minutes because the lat race I ran (not counting herriman) was the last time we ran cedar and i got 21:20. At the beginning I was fine no nerves at all really. We ran around a little and cheered and stuff. I ran my warm up without my brace thing for my stupid achillies to see how it felt and it hurt a little but felt fine mainly so I didn't wear it in the race either. I always get nervous right before he shoots off the gun. I started off not being able to pass anybody because I was so boxed in but then made it out to the outside so that I could start passing people and I got up with Mia. I started to fall back behind and Liz caught up with me. She passed me but I stayed with her for the entire race. People passed me and I passed them for pretty much the entire race but on my lat lap jut before going in between the tennis courts and baseball field coach was there and said my time right now was 17:55. And I though "I'm gonna get 19 minutes!!!" So I tried to push it but I didn't have a ton left in me so I just barely sped up. Liz was barely in front of me but she started creating a gap and so she was like 4 seconds ahead of me. I finished pretty strong I think and I could not stop smiling because I got 19:51.2! I was so happy I beat my PR by 1 minute 29 seconds. It was a way fun race! Anyway I ended up with 33 overall (i think) and 3rd on the team! So yeah, it was a good time.
| Race: |
Snow canyon invitational (3 Miles) 00:20:04, Place overall: 14, Place in age division: 1 | | Race! Me Mia and Liz were all just going to pace Josie, Ali, Nicole, Meskerum, Kaelie, and all the other varsity girls (so that we could create a little pack) cause there was no varsity race. I was trying to talk to them and tell them to go faster and stuff and I realized that my talking was actually helping me. I felt like I had way more energy when I talked to them so I tried to do it the entire race. Near the ending me and Liz were in front and I didn't know if I should go back or what so we jut kinda stayed close to them and then when we were about to go on the track holt was like give it your all. And I didn't know if he was talking to the pacers or the racers but I pushed it hard and ended with 20:04. I got 1st on the team (cause mia and liz were pacing) and 14th overall. I liked this race a lot cause it went by way fast an it was just really fun! |
| | I went to afternoon practice today cause SOCCER IS FINALLY OVER! Woot woot. (I do like soccer it just takes a lot of time) anyway. I didn't go to morning practice today but coach just wanted me to run 3 and do some 200s. During the stretching time Nicole was passing out shirts from the marathon and neither me or Josie went but we both got a large because there was extra! We ran in them and it sure did look like we had no pants. It was a blast. Oh. And my name is now chicken allifredo. Pretty great huh. Yeah! The 200s were good. Meskerum is so fast! And sprinting is not my strong point I don't think so I should probably work on that. But the run was good today. |
| Race: |
Region Bloomington course (3 Miles) 00:20:43, Place overall: 12, Place in age division: 1 | | REGION. Oh my, oh my, oh my. I really loved this race. We did our warm up and I felt a little nervous but really I was fine. I ate some crackers before and I felt kinda sickish but by the race I was fine. When we got to the starting line I felt pretty good. We were on the very far side of the starting line so when he shot the gun we all had to merge. Mia was right up at the top ten and I got up with her and my legs seriously felt amazing! Better then they ever have! I said to myself Kay stay right behind Mia. But then I realized that I could be pushing harder cause I felt so good. So I did and I pushed right ahead of Mia and I was in like 8th. The 1st lap I was in 8/9th probably the entire time. I felt great! I was catching girls and just felt amazing! The 2nd lap I fell back to about 10th which was alright but I felt like I could get up there with 8th and 9th. I didn't though. And a Dixie girl passed me. I still felt good but not great. The Dixie chick (get it?) started creating a gap on me and I just couldn't get her. Dixie passed a cedar girl and so I was trying to close the gap on her which I sorta did but not enough so I could get up with her. There was also a cedar girl close behind me. At the very last stretch (I'm still in 11th) I knew there wasn't a chance of top ten but I couldn't let the girls behind me pass. I kicked it in hardest I've ever done but it just wasnt enough and the cedar girl passed me at the very end. Putting me in 12th. Ugh. Oh well we still made it to state 3rd! Beating desert hills by 5 points! I think this might have Ben my bestest race ever! I'm so stoked for state! We're gonna do so good!
| | Easy 5 miles with Taylor B., Ali Jo, and Meskerum. (Sorry that I'm awful at spelling) we did the mall loop thing and Taylor barely knew where she was going... But it was actually fun. It felt way good. |
| | Since I'm in salt lake to see my sister and grandma, I couldn't go to morning practice and so me and Jessica did one ourselves. The workout was 1200, 1000, 800, and 600. On the warm up we probably warmed up for about 1.5 miles and then we started the workout. The loop had a lot of hills and sideways grass so it was pretty tough. Jess was there to push me (except on the 1000 cause she's a wimp) (: but on all the other ones and so I think I pushed pretty hard even though I didn't have all the girls pushing me. It was good though. cooled about 1 mile. |

State championship (3 Miles) 00:20:50, Place overall: 32, Place in age division: 1 | | Am: easy 3ish. Mall loop. Pm: RACE! Ahh. Well we got over to the park around 11:30ish and I was pretty pumped! A little nervous but pumped. Woo. Anyway we warmed up around the course about 2 miles and we saw my sister! Woo. (She came to watch me run because apparently ever since she moved out she cares now, weird right?) (; we got back from our warm up and I was so excited because our new uniforms were a secret! Ah. When we got to the starting line I was kind of nervous but not really. I wanted them to hurry and shoot the gun but I didn't want the race to start. Weirdd... They shot the gun and BAM! We all went off like a rocket. It felt like an amazing start! I felt great and knew that I could do it and also I was up right there with Mia. Then... BAM! False start. What the? Ugh. Okay so my 2nd start was not nearly as good as my 1st. I was the sameish spot but didnt feel as great but whatever. The 1st little part all the way until the big hill I was just trying to hold onto Mia. I did not want to lose her now so I tried to stay right with her. The stretch before the big hill I felt so so good! Like amazing. I could hear I'm pretty sure each individual cheering and it felt great! I just looked up the hill at the person at the top and said that, that was where I would have to push hard. And I mean hard. I started passing people (including Mia, and I thought she was right there with me the rest of the race) and then the hill finally came and I tried my best to look at the top because looking all the way up there helped me so much! I pushed it pretty hard and tried to push it once I was at the top but I didn't push too much harder. Oh well. Around the pond was kinda hard because there was pretty much no one there cheering, like at all. But I pushed through and once I got to the other side of the course I was feeling pretty alright when I heard everyone cheering an I just thought holy cow this race is going by fast! I last little bit (probably like the last 800) I was trying to push as hard as I could but I just didn't, now I'm kicking myself cause I could have pushed harder at the end and passé the 2 girls right in front of me. Oh well. I got 1st on our team and 32nd overall. I'm pretty excited about that! I'm super excited for next year and years to come cause were gonna be a rocking team! Yay! |
| | Am- 3 miles E. (funny story up until now, I always thought E. meant east. Apparently it means easy... Oops) Pm- normal 1.5 warm and cool then 4x1000. It was so cold and rainy. I froze! That's okay though. | |
| | Pm- we weren't sure if we wanted to go 4 or 5 so we went to the 4 mile turn around at green springs and voted to keep going. It was really fun and we had a berry war(: |
| | Am- MICHIGANS! I got somewhere around 32:40ish. I don't remember. It was about a minute behind my lat Michigan time! Ugh. Oh well I kinda stuck with Liz and finished about 4ish seconds behind her. Michigans actually aren't that awful I feel like. Pm- 3 miles EASY. |
| | Pm- costume ice cream run. That was fun! |
| | Am- 3 miles easy. Mia wasn't there so we broke the walking record. (: Pm- I got sick during school-it might have something to do with only eating candy for breakfast but I dunno. I left during 3rd period and so I didn't do the workout. | |
| | 3 miles at American Fork. Felt good except coach and Trevor went the extra mile to scare us. Haha get it. The extra mile! Haha I crack myself up! | |
| Race: |
Pre-footlocker (3 Miles) 00:21:45, Place overall: 60, Place in age division: 3 | | Race at American Fork. I felt not super good at the start because I think I started out too fast but my mom says that she thinks you can never go out too fast. Anyway, I started and so many people were passing me and so I felt like I wasn't doing good. Then Liz caught up to me and I said to myself that I wasn't gonna let her get away from me so I tried to stick with her and let her pull me. I pushed and stayed with her pretty good then meskerum caught up to us and she started to push us both. On the last loop me and Liz had both passed meskerum and I decided I wasn't gonna let Liz go so I let her pull me to the the last 600ish where Taylor caught up and passed us both. When we got on the track Taylor had created a pretty big gap and Liz was behind me a little ways. Liz then kicked it in like a ton and passes both of us beating me by 2 seconds and Taylor by 1. I got 21:45. It was a pretty good race except for my Achilles started hurting a little during it and a lot after. I thought I was completely better though. Stupid Achilles. |
| Race: |
Time trial (1 Miles) 00:05:54, Place overall: 4, Place in age division: 4 | | Time trial today! 1 mile! I broke 6 minutes for the 1st time and I was so happy! My achillies kinda hurt. Not as bad as the last time trial but it definetly wasn't at its best. I put it in an ice bucket when I got home. It was great. |
