7:45am- Footlocker West- Freshman Boys

Last night I really tried to prepare myself physically and mentally and I felt pretty good before the race warming up and stuff. Yeah so me and the crew went and warmed up and got over to the start line and did some striders and such. So the race started good and I got out in front with the top group. On the little downhill around the turn I opened it up a bit and took the lead for like 50 meters but that got me nervous. Anyways hopefully someone was taking pictures right then. The first mile split was 504 and I was feeling good but then we hit the switch backs and I lost my focus. A gap opened up and I didnt go with them. I definitly should have shown more guts right then. Lots of guys passed me and when I finally got to the top of that first hill I was already out of position. I regain a bit of ground on the down hill passing up some guys but then the second hill I lost it again. My plan was to make a move going down the the base of reservour hill but my legs were so on fire and the leaders were gone I had nobody to make a move on. Nobody passed me up reservour hill. At like 1k left I picked it up and just tried to make the most of the rest of the race. Not much people to pass but I had a decent kick and ended up with a 18:10. I think I blew it on that first hill, I should have stayed on that front pack because letting them get away like that left me no chance to do what I wanted. Macen had a good race I think for being sick and just barely missed out on a medal. 27th was not the place I should have been in and it was actually quite dissapointing. Really fun race to finish of the season though. I think I lost my edge towards the end of the season so now its time to refocus and get ready to kill it in track, eye of the tiger. Peace world

It's not a matter of guts, it's a matter of patience. You could have run your 1st mile 30 seconds slower and been a minute faster for the race.

Maybe not 30 secs (probably 15-20), but that really is true. Learn from it, you have huge potential and work very hard.
