Running Accomplishments:

2nd Year of XC (Senior Year). My best races thus far have come from Nike Regionals down in Pheonix (5K), the Dixie Invitational (800), and the Davis Invitational (1600). I took 8th place in the 1600 and 11th in the 800 at 3A State. Also at state we were in the slower heat of the Sprint Medley and ended up taking 3rd overall, that was pretty legit.

Long-Term Running Goals:

After high school and my mission I think that it would be really cool to get into the St. George Marathon. That is one thing I would like to accomplish in my lifetime. Hopefully I will be able to do multiple. In all I would just like to enjoy the time I run and have some fun experiences with it.

We went and did some hills by some I mean a lot of hills. Not to mention in Hell Hole today, it was tough but worth it till we had to come out going up that huge mountain/hill. It ended up being 6 and a half miles. It was humid but the run was good!

 I went out and did my afternoon run I did a 3 miler, I felt good. It was a little hot but I need to get used to the heat. Today has been a good day!

It was a good run out on the turtle road trail thingy, the run back seemed a lot faster. We did 5 miles there then when we got back we did striders so it totaled up to 6 miles all together. I felt pretty good.

The afternoon we went three miles and then lifted and all that good stuff. It was a little tough but it will be worth it. Good runs today!

We started out at the Little Valley Park and ran to do hills about a half a mile away, the first hill wasn't too bad but the second hill was a monster. It was good to get the hills in because it will be worth it in the end. Good run today! Little nervous but excited for this upcoming meet!

I went out and ran by myself, just me and my music. I was feeling pretty good till I realized that it is soo hot! But it was a good run.

This morning we ran a 7 miler with 2 mile tempo. The run out seemed a lot longer than the run back. I felt pretty good most of the run, that monster hill killed me on the way back with the tempo but other than that it was a good run and I felt like I had a good pace!

 

This afternoon we ran the same ole 3 miler and did weights and all that good stuff. I felt really good, kind of getting used to the dry heat but it's been a good running day!

Today we ran up and did two laps around the dirt mile, I felt pretty good! Kind of kept a slower pace the first lap then tried to stick up with the pack at the end of the second one. It was a good run!

We just ran three miles down on the grass with no shoes, I felt pretty good didn't really push it till the striders afterwards and even then I wasn't going all out just because I didn't want to wear myself out before the race.

 As time got closer and closer I got even more nervous about the race. I didn't really know what to expect as far as how fast to go or how these were even set up. We got on the bus and I just tried to keep relaxed and even fell asleep for probably 5 mins till I hear "Look there is a fire"... It's great to wake up to that (; When we started doing our warm up stuff I kind of knew where I was going but I was still nervous being my first race and all. I was watching the girls thinking wow they are going fast... Do I run that fast? We got lined up right when the guy said set for the first time my heart really started pumping.... then he messed up. So the second time he said set I was for sure ready to go even though I was still unsure about how fast to go... but wait another problem with the gun. Third and finally he blew the whistle and we were off! I remember Coach Holt saying you will have plenty of time to catch up. That was my plan I would kind of lay low and see how this whole race pace works then at the end have a final little push. I was with Krenshaw for the start and I was glad that he was there to get my race pace started. I moved my way up just a little bit to Josh and kept with him for what I can remember quite awhile. Everyone on the sides of the course that was pushing us and telling us to go faster made it soo much better, it is really good to have people cheering you on and motivating us to move up spots. Anyway.. when I passed Coach Holt for the first time he told me to pass five guys and I saw Nick in the distance so I ran up counting the guys I was passing and got behind him and I was just behind him for most of the race. I was breathing hard but then again who wasn't.. It wasn't till the third lap when I thought I was slowing down.. After some of the people motivating us right before the track I started to feel it, I hit that track and I thought I was done. I could see Matt up ahead and so I ran ahead of him then I saw Wes and some Cedar kids and somehow I found a little energy and kicked it into gear and sprinted as fast as I could... I was exhausted by the end, my shirt was drenched but dang did I feel good. People told me "oh it feels so good after you just run a race".. I'm thinking pushing the pace for three miles and that feels good? It really does, I felt pretty good till that final track lap before I started pushing it again then I felt even better when finished. It was nice to have the water right there to drink, water tasted sooo good after it too! I ended up finishing 21st overall with the time of 17:29. I am so glad I joined XC it has already been a blast and there is so much more to come! Definitely some good runs today from the 3 mile grass work out to the 2 mile warm up to the race and finally to the mile cool down, just a good day!

I was pretty sore after the race yesterday but we ran down into Hell's Hole and did some hills in there. It was pretty good till we got to the 30 second ones and then I was tired. We then ran out of it and stopped to get some "Holy" water then just ran back to the school. It was tiring but nice run though.

We ran the same route as usual did some plyos and head up to The Running Center for team night and that was a lot of fun. I got some racing strategy hints for next time we race and in all it was a good day!

Today we went over to the trailhead by the Dixie Center and ran a good 3 mile run. Ran with the pack out which was a bad idea after running in that sand but in the end it was good I guess. Then the level 2 boys flipped around and I ran back with Nick keeping a nice pace, it was a good run I wasn't feeling as sore.

It was 5 miles with a long hill, I couldn't find a really long one so I found some medium sized hills along the way and ran up them. I felt pretty good, not so sore anymore from the race which is a plus! Glad I got up and ran!

Hurricane Race day! I felt super good and was glad for Matt to keep on pushing me, I got a PR with the time of 17:27. Props to Matt for out-sprinting me! Definitely felt good after the race knowing my time!

SUU race day! This race was definitely not my best. I got 18:00. First spike course and I didn't do to swell. I just felt dehydrated and pretty tight in my legs. The solution to those two things were drinking more water and stretching better after each run. Still working on them. I just look right past this race and look toward the future races! After a not-so-good race it has was a good rebuilding week!
