Tried to run with out pain meds. to painful today. It was a great day to run. what a shame. went to the gym. elip mancine and stair climber. I went to smiths and had a Half gallon of choclate milk. 1.25 managers special!
Chocolate milk, Umm does a body good! I wish I had the magic formula for the back, darn! Ya know, maybe just maybe, time for the cortosine shot. I waited till the bitter end with my knee, but if I wanted to run it had to happen. I know alot of people don't like this option, I researched and talked to several qualified medical people about it, before I made the decision. If given properly it is very effective. The only downside I came up with was, if you continue to inject in the same spot time and time again, you could damage and weaken your ligaments. One injection from my research is harmless, I receieved 2 in the knee, 1st one did not work. You and the Docs need to decide but, it seems you have had no luck with anything else. Just my 2 cents, I wish you the best pal.
Bill you might find it beneficial to go back to last year and look over some of Paul Petersen's training. I know he was injured much of 2006 and part of 2007 yet was able to do some good things while cross training and then when he came back he was pretty smart not pushing it too hard too soon. I really think he could offer some good advice on dealing with injuries. You might also want to ask for some ideas on the discussion forum.
I had a cort shot when I was a junior in high school during cross country season and it helped for awhile, track season was painful but I managed. However, t wasn't until I broke my ankle the summer before my senior that I really forced to stop running. Looking back the weeks off with no running and then the time spent doing workouts in the swimming pool instead of the road actually gave my body some time off from the pounding. I was surprised I was able to come back pretty fast.
I just wish I knew what to do now with the hip pain. It is no fun being injured.
