The temperature this morning was 49 degrees and a nice breezy wind around 10mph.  I ran a rather hilly route this morning.   My legs felt better today, other than I have had a pain at the bottom of my left foot up near the toes for the last week or so.  My toe next to the big toe feels kind of swollen.  I need to keep my attention on this that it doesn't get worse.  Could be because I've ran for 25 straight days. :-)

Anyway, I started from my house ran down Yellowstone, and turned up Clark St. (hill) then up Hospital Way (another Hill).  Once you get up to the hostpital you have a half mile downhill.  Then I turned up Buckskin Rd (hill) then turned on American Rd (rolling hills) then turned on Barton Rd.  (downhill) for almost a mile.  Then all the way back home (flat).

I ran 15.10 miles in an easy 7:15 pace in 1:49.  Ran three miles under a 7 minute mile.

I've done quite a bit of medium long runs this week to build endurance.  I feel really good that I was able to accomplish that in the time frame I have.

Do you know anything about the Pocatello 50 mile ultra race?

From jtshad on Thu, May 14, 2009 at 13:03:48 from 204.134.132.225

I have some friend's (fast older guys) who are running it as a team, including Tom Borschel (and my running buddy Pat B) who just sent you some info on trail running. He could tell you more.

Jon - Here's the web stie

http://pocatello50.com/

It's funny I was asked to run a leg of it this morning. If your interested there's a spot open on this one team to run the second leg. I mentioned about you so if you want to run it contact me and I will let them know. They would exactly let you choose what leg you want to run though.

Respond has soon as you can and I will contact him. It's my dentist and his brother that are running and they need a third guy.

Hmm. I'll look at the website when I get home (blocked at work, for some reason) and let you know. Is it a competitive team?

From wheakory on Thu, May 14, 2009 at 15:01:17 from 134.50.89.33

Jon - no it's not a competitive team. The one brother is decent as far as speed the other brother is slower from what I was told.

Next year Jeff, you and I should form a team. I don't have any trail running shoes to even run this race this year.

Jon - have you decided on the 50 mile race. My dentist friend is a great guy. He's also a bishop for one of the wards in our town.

Let me ask my wife and get back to you. What leg would I run? Did they ask you to be on this team, or is it another team that wants you?

From wheakory on Fri, May 15, 2009 at 11:54:47 from 134.50.89.33

Jon - They asked me to be on their team. Their excellent guys. I just don't have the experience with trail running shoes or have any.

If you want you can stay at my house so don't worry about the hotel. I do you need to let him know soon. They mentioned Leg 2, but he told me he would run any of the legs.

I don't think I can do it this year. If I had more notice, I may have been able to. Thanks for the offer, though.

From wheakory on Fri, May 15, 2009 at 12:30:47 from 134.50.89.33

Jon - no problem. If you ever need a place to stay coming this way whether a race or something else my house is always open to you .
