Ran with Barry today and we took it easy in the beginning for the 6.23 mile run.

8:35, 8:00, 7:49, 7:44, 7:52 7:12.  The last 300m's  I was doing a 6:25 pace and it was hard.  The leg just feels real heavy and I just hung on.

I'm doing the Law Day race this Saturday so I will cut-back on the running.   Tomorrow 5 miles, Thursday 4 miles and Friday 2 miles.  I'm not racing but I have a goal pace that would be nice to reach.  I know this will be an emotional run for me.  Just need to make sure my leg is well rested leading up to it.

It's hard to accept a pace you used to run so easy is now an exciting accomplishment.

Kory, It looks like your are making a strong comeback as well. It amazes me how relatively quickly you have come back. Just remember to enjoy this weekend and not put too much time pressure on yourself.

thanks Adam what do you think I ought to run the next.couple of days. im hoping for a

7:20 pace.this weekend for the race.

This is so cool. It's fun cheering for you Kory.

Your mileage plan sounds good. What is the distance? Is this a 5K?

From Kory on Tue, May 03, 2011 at 22:51:37 from 184.155.141.249

Adam- it's a 10k. I've been running up to 6 to 8 miles. I do get sore or the leg does get heavy at the end of runs. I'm no where near like race mode, but I think I would be able to pull out some 6:50 pace miles in the race with pain.

Of course I'm not racing anyone but my own personal time goal. I just don't know how to treat the last few days because of the recover I'm in. Plus I haven't done a race in so long.

From Adam RW on Tue, May 03, 2011 at 23:05:18 from 24.10.132.131

Thanks for the extra details. That being said I'm even more behind both your taper and pace plan. I look forward to reading about your performance but more importantly am just excited that you are out there again no matter what the pace.

From Kory on Tue, May 03, 2011 at 23:11:05 from 184.155.141.249

Thanks Adam - It will be emotional and I know it will hurt, but that's a part of recovery. Every morning I wake up with pain and it takes a few minutes to get the leg ready. If I could do a 7:20 to 7:00 overall pace I would be excited.

My strategy it to take the first 2 miles around a 7:30 or higher and then hammer the last 4 miles which really is no fast pace for you guys just us cripples.

From Adam RW on Tue, May 03, 2011 at 23:13:44 from 24.10.132.131

Does the course profile match that strategy?

Any pace is impressive to me after what you've been through.

From Kory on Tue, May 03, 2011 at 23:24:56 from 184.155.141.249

Well the first mile is completely flat and then the next mile is a small incline with some rolling hills. The hills are hard on the leg but I can manage it. Miles 4 - 6 somewhat flat with some rolling stuff. Well, the last mile is completely flat.

Kory, glad to see you are doing well. Remember what we talked about and if I hear that you are being pushed to "race" this 10k I will have to come down there and have a chat. Go out and enjoy the race and revel in the fun of running.
