I just got back from a weekend at a friends cabin that I roofed and while I roofed, my kids rode the atvs around until they both ran out of gas.  I just got back and no I didnt run.  I was going to but there was a Bear spotted in the area and I dont like running with a loaded gun in my hand.  I count it as a high altitude breathing exercises.

Ah, come on!!! You could outrun a bear!

From missee on Mon, Sep 08, 2008 at 14:28:29

yeah, bears not good. Running w/ loaded gun not good, either! Wise man!!

From Michelle N. on Mon, Sep 08, 2008 at 14:35:15

WIMP!!! J/K Last year I was in the Tetons and there were bears all over and my brother was supposed to run with me and didn't and I was so nervous the whole time. I think my heart rate was about 20 beats higher just thinking of being chased by a bear, or a moose, or an elk or buffalo. Remind me to tell you about being chased by an armadillo in Florida. You are going to totally kill us all tomorrow now. We are all pooped and you're just going to be full of energy.

Kelli we were in a cabin by soldier creek reservoir that the Bear actually was spotted lounging under the deck of our cabin. We got up there at 9 pm on friday night and no one would get out of the truck! I had a little flashlight and a 9mm hand gun because I had to turn the water on and the main power which was under the deck. Talk about a nerve racking experience. I kept hearing background music playing from a horror movie, thats why I was scared! No bear though, it was a nice break even though I Had to shingle most the time up there

From Camille on Mon, Sep 08, 2008 at 15:07:02

I wonder what the "locals" would think if they saw someone running with a loaded gun. Probably not good. Did you ever hear that story about the Atheist and the Bear? LOL This reminds me of that.

From Lucia on Mon, Sep 08, 2008 at 15:35:43

Ohhhh come on! Black bears are totally harmless. If you had been to grizzly country, I would understand your fear.

Nevertheless, I think you needed a break big time, now you can get back to running better and stronger than ever!

From Walter on Mon, Sep 08, 2008 at 15:46:48

Missee, It would have to have a very good safety on it and it wouuld need a drink holder with it also. lol

Michelle, Im not a wimp, I tried acting brave and in control as I did a crawl under the deck to turn the cabin lights on. "Im not doing it!" Said everyone in the truck. It was classic! All of us just staring at a black abyss under the house.

Camille, Im guessing they would take their children inside if they saw me running with a gun! lol When I was younger, I ran 10 miles from a campground in Glacier National park with just some mace in my hand. I didnt have much to live for then I guess.

Lucia, I did need a break although I was working the whole time, but as far as you making fun of me for my fear of those bears, I dont care! Black bear Polar bear koala bear, Grizzly bear, they all freakin scare me. Oh and lions and tigers too!

Do not forget great danes.

From walter on Mon, Sep 08, 2008 at 20:53:29

Hey K-Dawg, even great danes in the wild are considered a hazardous situation.

From Kelli on Mon, Sep 08, 2008 at 21:29:20

They terrify me, as do all dogs.

From Walter on Mon, Sep 08, 2008 at 23:58:22

Yeah I have to completely stop running when they come after me on the run. It always stops them from charging you more if you stop and drop your hands to your sides. I learned that as a kid growing up in the wild. lol
