Went to Payson early this morning with my Boat attached to the truck and got to the race at 6:30. I hurried and registered and did about a 1 mile warmup and then got to the start line and did some serious chit chatting! The race lined up and Rachel (Rad) got right next to me at the start line and when they shot the gun off she sprinted out and took an early 200 yard lead screaming and waving her hands in the air! I hope some blogger or private individual got the video or still shots because thats all the glory im giving her! haha I pushed the pace a bit hard at first and was immediately joined by two kids that looked like they were either high School age or College. One of them was breathing pretty hard so I figured id see how far they could sustain the pace we were at. mile 1- 5:05 I felt awesome at this point and had the two runners going strong next to me. Mile 2- 5:15 a bit of head wind and gentle drop. Mile 3 I decided to push the pace and see if the two could hang on. I got to 3.5 and there was a 90 degree turn and I gained 100 yards. I felt good at that point but was faced East into the sun with an slight up hill climb. I started to fade and just concentrated on my arm and leg movement. I got to mile 4.5 and there was another 90 degree turn facing me South into a slight headwind. I looked back and gained another 50 yards. I got to sneek a peek right before mile 5 on yet another 90 degree turn and I wasnt losing ground. I hit mile 5 and tried to go faster but found myself fading and running into the sun. I gained another 50 yards maybe more by then and finished right behind Marion who was in the 5k race. She out sprinted me and I had nothing left. Dang! Next time Marion, next time! I won a Timex Watch for first place and a commemorative Silver Dollar.  The FRB had a good showing and we cleaned up in our Age devisions! We had Breakfast at Marions house afterwards and then Scott and Kellis family went with us up to Deer Creek for some solid tubing, and Wakeboarding. Im finally home to blog this! It was a great day!

Oh Walter!! Simply amazing!! I can not even begin to fathom what it would feel like to run a 5 minute mile, let alone 6 in a row and you seem to do it with ease!! You did great today and are very humble about it. I admire that!! So glad to hear you had a fun day on the lake!! Very nice job today!

Ahh, the breakfast of champions. FRB'ers really did a good job of brining home the hardware. I love how you can still 'push the pace' at 5:15. Amazing. I'm not even sure I can ride my bike that fast. Enjoy that silver dollar, I love those coins. I hope they will give them away next year. It was great to say hi. I never did see our picture at Hobble Creek. I remember Erika taking one, but never saw it. I hope it wasn't as bad as the ones smooth posted!
