Went early to help James and John (no not the former prophets) set up for our XC race this morning and got a look at what its like behind the table when your waiting to register. Very hectic and stressful.  We had a good turn out for a first year race.  We had more 25 dollar gift cards then people though! Herriman businesses really did awesome for our first race. We had several thousand dollars to give out as prizes at the end. Everyone got something.   The race started really fast as I expected with how High School kids race. I let them pick the pace and get it going. After a half a mile 2 kids were in front of me. One was a senior from Riverton and the other was a Junior for our school. I saw my first mile was 5:23 which wasnt to bad for a slight uphill grade mostly flat. Mile 2 was the same and it was Dillon Jones ahead of me by 10'.  I then had a bit of uphill and surged up to him and passed him and he challenged me and kept up to my pace.  As I got to the top of the incline I pushed a bit harder and watched his shadow till it was gone and I couldnt hear him anymore. Mile 3 was 5:53 which I really felt in my legs. I then had a slight downhill stretch back to the school and with a half a mile left it turned and I saw I had about a 200 yard lead. My legs really hurt and I have some issues with my right calve from the Relay I ran last saturday.  Im having serious doubts about St. George. I will up my miles and see if I can handle it.

Ah, the old watch the shadow trick. I used that myself the other day. Only, I was watching the shadows creep up on me.

Nice, Walter James!!

So here is my real question: What prize did you get???

Sounds like it was a fun race. :)

Lindsey, our students all got prizes and money from sponsors around Herriman businesses. They pumped out the money it was great!

Teena Marie, I got a 1 hour massage, $20 to Wasatch running center, Bailey got a $25 credit card to a car wash, Misty got 2 entrances to the State Fair and 30 bucks off Verizon purchase. Not a bad investment. lol
