Ok Im back in town because of some work problems forced me home and now that im back it wasnt as serious as it made out to be.  However, my darling daughters decided to get a nasty virus on both my laptop and desktop computers.  I am desperate for a computer so I went to Costco and bought a new laptop while PC Laptops is going through the two others.  They told me my hard drive is gone on my laptop and they wanted to charge me 2700 bucks to get my old info off of it.  If any of you out there know how to do this let me know.  Oh and I have 100 dollars just to get my quickbooks info off of it. I dont really care about anything else.  My Powell vacation was supreme!  80's temps and water was close to 70.  I met a competition wakeboarder from Holland who was camping next to us and when he saw the wakeboard tower he asked if he could have a ride.  So I took him and he was amazing! He did a flip and landed perfectly then did a reverse flip after that.  It was awesome. We were putting on quite the show for all on the beach!  I made my wife take some pics and when I can figure out how to install all that crap back on this computer, Ill show you all his talent.  I forgot to tell you all when I got home there was 300 messages for me! It will be a while until I get to you all and tell you about my soggy SGMarathon!

Ship the hard drive to me and I will get the data off for you. That's crazy what they told you.

Thanks Kory, I will! Such a rip off place! I paid 800 for the same computer that they were trying to sell me for 2800! So I guess the other 2000 is the lifetime warranty! lol Hows the hand? I swear, that is the thing I fear the most in races is what you went through! But you still have a first place win in a marathon and Ive yet to muster up one! Great job!

From wheakory on Fri, Oct 10, 2008 at 00:11:53

Thanks Walter... The hand is still sore and was almost deep enough for stitches. The knee has four bruises on it. My hip is a little sore but not bad. I can't believe how much blood I lost out of my hand while I was running. But overall I'm doing better. I just feel so bad I couldn't run with you guys, but at mile 12 I really had to brown code, and I looked at my watch and I wasn't running for over 2 minutes. I knew I would have a hard time catching up to you guys. Then once I was getting into a groove I had to stop again and tie my shoe which took forever because the hands were so cold. Then my hat flew off and I dropped my sports beans so both times I went back on the course to get those items. It just wasn't my day. The thing is I had plenty left at the end and felt great but I lost so much time.

But really getting run-over at the beginning of the race killed my chances with the hip hurting through the whole thing.

Your hard drive can be fixed if the sectors are not totally damaged. I would have to read the drive with an external cable. I do some of this stuff for a living, and I have friends that have every gadget to try to revive the hard drive. Send it to me and I will do my best. Warranty's are expensive. The one you really need to paid for is drop and spill proof warranty, because this is not covered by the regular warranty.

What brand of laptop did you get. I hope you didn't get an HP, take it back if you did.

The best thing is to chalk it up and kick butt on the next one right!? I actually wished I would have tried to stick with the main pack but I know I would have finished weaker. Im a little dissapointed at not being able to break 2:40! I will prevail!

Walter - That's aweful! What a complete rip off too. I'm glad you had an awesome trip though. You and your family deserved it.

From walter on Fri, Oct 10, 2008 at 12:15:03

Thanks Camille. I wished I could have stayed longer.

From Camille on Fri, Oct 10, 2008 at 12:15:53

That's totally understandable. No one likes to come home from vacation, but especially early!

From walter on Fri, Oct 10, 2008 at 21:12:55

I know, im sick of the way things are shaping for our economy. I cant win for winning right now. Just whining!

From Camille on Fri, Oct 10, 2008 at 21:32:26

You aren't the only one. It's scary. I work in an industry where everyone is getting laid off. My company has downsized considerably over the last 1-1/2 years and they aren't the only ones. I am constantly worried about what I would do if I were let go. It's not like I could find another engineering job very easily.

From walter on Fri, Oct 10, 2008 at 21:51:46

I am clinging on for dear life right now. Trying to decide what to do. My employees were more important to me than myself. Now Im paying for it.

Only 300 messages??

What's up with that??

(Glad you had a great trip, sorry about your computers.)

From walter on Sat, Oct 11, 2008 at 10:48:40

Yeah Teena, and most of them were from you and Kelli's conversation with everyone on here. lol I did enjoy the Lake and it was very nice. So have you signed up for Boston yet?

From Teena on Sat, Oct 11, 2008 at 17:00:41

Yep ... I signed up for Boston already. I was giddy the whole day!! :)

How many times have you ran Boston? And why is R&R Arizona one of your faves?

From walter on Sat, Oct 11, 2008 at 17:21:31

Ive done 2 boston's. One for fun one for speed. My next one will be opposite of last year. I will start conservatively and then bust it out on the last half. Yes I do like R&R Arizona. Totally flat and lots of atmosphere! its sooo fun. We are going to have an awesome time with all these bloggers going to Beantown next year! Awesome!
