From marion on Tue, Aug 26, 2008 at 12:09:42

Seriously- I think that is my favorite thing about running- the rest of the non running day :) knowing I did something really hard first off. The rest of the day is cake- well sort of ;D

From Kelli on Tue, Aug 26, 2008 at 12:22:18

Good Morning. Great run, I here?? I do not get all of the mumbo jumbo up there, but I know it is fast!

From walter on Tue, Aug 26, 2008 at 12:38:35

Marion, yeah, now I can sleep finally! Except I cant, because Ive got to go work whats left of my butte off!

Kelli-Had a good conversation with Scott. The mumbo jumbo is a 3:30 is around a 7 minute pace mile. so my 2:42 would be around a 5:24 mile. we were doing 2 laps which is a 800 which is a half mile. capiche? You'll get the hang of it! Its really hard but I stayed consistent so Im glad for that. If your times are faster and get slower than you will benefit from doing these workouts because that helps you with your pace on your races. Make sense? good ok no? alright, come do more and Ill show you.

From Kelli on Tue, Aug 26, 2008 at 12:46:04

Well, I wondered if those times were for 2 laps. But, I was not sure. I do know the whole 400, 800, etc cause I ran track way back when. I am not totally stupid , just partially!

When Scott gives me a break down like you did, I tell him to stop giving me his resume. You gave a resume report today. You are a real runnin' blogger now!

From Camille on Tue, Aug 26, 2008 at 16:57:07

okay, prepare yourself for a potiental stupid question:

Do you use a stop watch to get all your times, or a wrist watch? Would you reccomend to some one that is green behind the ears like me to time myself like that?

From walter on Tue, Aug 26, 2008 at 21:53:47

Its like my grade school teacher told me Camille, there are no stupid questions! I use my garmin gps watch to log my miles but when im on the track you can push the lap button to register your time for each interval. That gave me my times for the 800 meters that I was running. Yes I would recommend it to new runners in fact you can go to www.mcmillanrunning.com and go into the running calculator at the top of the page. Then type in your marathon goal time or a race that you have previously ran in its distance, then it will tell you a pretty accurate time your marathon would be. Then if you look down farther itll tell you the interval times for 400,800,1200 etc. that you should be running. When you do interval or speed workouts, you want to try to keep consistant and you will benefit!
