Wow, this is a first that I got a 8 hour sleep time in.  I ran at 8:40 and put in 3 miles. I stopped to talk to a neighbor who I had no idea was a runner.  She ran her first marathon in Salt Lake this year and was disappointed.  I told her I didnt blame her because that is a blankety blank course in my opinion. I gave her the blog name and hopefully she'll get on here.  She goes down to Lifetime fitness and was in a marathon running program they had.  Her first name is Sharon.

My leg is in cahoots but jimmy crack corn and I don't care.  Ill see what it does after tomorrows race. It was a bit hot this morning and I worked up a full out sweat!  That is rare for a skinny guy that doesnt sweat too much.

Well jimmy crack corn (can I call you jimmy for short?), see you tomorrow....

From Kelli on Fri, Aug 22, 2008 at 11:35:02

Great job---Walter. More than we managed to do! We WERE headed out the door at about that same time, so I am glad that my children decided to tick me off and I got to avoid the sweating!

Good luck tomorrow---it is your time to beat Sasha, I feel it!!! Forget the leg and just RUN!!!!

From walter on Fri, Aug 22, 2008 at 11:40:53

I have a feeling like I should be smoking crack than running tomorrow Cody! After all the nick names ive been called this week I think Jimmy is just fine! My middle name is James by the way!

It would be a miracle Kelli! There is a movie about the Boston marathon with a kid named Ralph and if you havnt seen it it is funny. He's 14 years old and thinks if he wins the Boston marathon than his mom will come out of a coma. Anyways, on the last miles of the race he sees Santa Claus and Santa says You can do it Ralph, It will be a miracle!

From Jody on Fri, Aug 22, 2008 at 11:41:20

I am hoping your leg is having pre-race phantom pains. They always appear right before a race. Good Luck tomorrow!

From Kelli on Fri, Aug 22, 2008 at 11:47:38

YOU CAN DO IT, RALPH!!!!

From walter on Fri, Aug 22, 2008 at 12:00:34

Jody, there you go! Thats all it is my friend, pre race pains, or pre race syndrome. (prs)

Kelli, yeah baby, you have seen it! I love that show.

From Lucia on Fri, Aug 22, 2008 at 15:42:47

You can do it, Ralph!

Good luck, Wall-e!

Run fast-o, Jimmy-o!

Where's Waldo? There he is, crossing the finish line in FIRST PLACE!!!

From walter on Fri, Aug 22, 2008 at 15:49:37

My finish speech: "I would like to dedicate this race to my wounded, over chlorinated, soggy bottom, spit-fire friend, BIG L!" Lucia! Im a couple of hours to going on a 2 hour drive up north to break a PR and whoever else wants to get in my way! lol Im a bit wounded physically but not in heart. I will not say too much now so it doesnt come back to haunt me like the French.

From cody on Fri, Aug 22, 2008 at 16:08:59

Lousy French....

From jtshad on Fri, Aug 22, 2008 at 16:26:42

"St. Ralph" is a funny movie. Good luck at the race tomorrow!

From walter on Fri, Aug 22, 2008 at 16:43:07

Jeff, oh yes that is the name St. Ralph! I need to go buy that movie and watch it before the race. What are you up to shadley, its been quiet up in Idaho. Were you back east on business or pleasure?

From jtshad on Fri, Aug 22, 2008 at 16:48:46

Business trip to Baltimore area which was quite pleasant. Usually Maryland in August is 90 degrees with 100% humdity. It was 80 with 30%, gorgeous running weather.

Kinda quite here in IF? Kids start school next week so last hurrah this weekend (maybe) then I run Poky HM (hopefully) next weekend, Salmon on 9/13 then TCM on Oct. 3. Oh yeah, in between I gotta work, coach soccer (2 teams!), teach Sunday school, yardwork, go on another business trip the week of 9/22...whew! Ok, I am tired just thinking about it, back to work.

What race are you running this weekend?

From walter on Fri, Aug 22, 2008 at 16:53:52

ok ok ok you win! I thought being out of work, pulling my hair and blogging the most i've done in my life was hectic! lol I'm doing TOU with Jon, Paul and Cody and Sasha and Josh Steffen.

From jill on Fri, Aug 22, 2008 at 23:27:46

Listen, walzo, I have just the thing for you... HA! Its a boot! Walter, take care of yourself. dont go too hard on the beav tomorrow... Actually forget that, go nuts, "every man dies, but not every man really lives" Will you use some face-paint for the race this weekend? War paint. I like red and purple... but what ever you can find would be nice. Later---

From Lucia on Fri, Aug 22, 2008 at 23:30:48

Jillzo, you better get to bed or you won't be ready for that 10-miler PR this weekend!

Also, why red and purple for the face paint? Is that from a football team?

From walter on Mon, Aug 25, 2008 at 00:22:32

Jillzo, Im back and Im glad you didnt give me a boot there on this race, it would have been ugly. Im still suffering from IBS. Hopefully you know what that is. I should do the warpaint thing and at the starting line start quoting lines from braveheart. The fireballs one! Maybe when you get your BQ for next year we can all do it together. I am running that next year.

Lucia--its from braveheart the movie.
