* = These 5 races were run at 67.9 seconds per pound. If I want a PR, I need to weigh less than 170 pounds. Short-Term Running Goals: 2024 GOALS:
to not get fat Long-Term Running Goals: Continue running as often as I can, as far as I can, as fast as I can. Teaching my kids (by example) the rewards that come from putting in the work. Very slowly get to 50 states. Personal: I'm married, with two sons, 18, and 19.
I started running because someone dared me to.
I ran my first race 3 days after my 40th birthday. (Disney)

| 16.25 miles. Hood route to Legacy Trail to Circus Bridge and back. On the other side of the circus bridge, they were about to start the Sharks Tooth 10k. We have so few races around here, I really should run more of them. I am not race ready. In fact, I am really slow right now. The last 3 miles of today 23:43. Even after all that, I'm still racing next weekend. Oh, joy! I saw musclebound cyclist guy again today. When he saw me, he gave me a big smile. Ha! I'm glad he's okay. |

| 10 miles on legacy trail. 7 am start. I'm playing too much soccer lately, or maybe taking it a bit too seriously. We played for 2 hours yesterday, and my legs are shredded. |

| 7.5 miles. Hood route to Legacy Trail and Back. 6 am Start. Very Smooth. This gives me hope for Saturday.
I actually met another runner on Laurel Road, and ran with him for @ 3/4 mile. He's on vacation, visiting his brother, from Ohio. He says he's training for a marathon in Xenia, OH. He says the race costs $35. I said $35!? He said yes. This interesting back and forth about the price of the race in Xenia lasted about 1/4 mile. Then I had to turn around. I'm sure he will run a different route for the rest of his vacation, so he doesn't have to talk to the guy obsessed with the $35 race again.

| St Patty's Day 8K. 8 a.m. start. Kind of warm. Did way better than I thought I would. Big head wind on the last mile. I was hoping for 35 minutes or better. Green eggs, biscuits and gravy, corned beef and potatoes afterwards. Dolphins in the Gulf. I ran as "Mickey Keefe." My grandmother's name. |

| 10.2 miles. Hood route to Legacy trail to colonia and back. 7 am start. The run felt remarkably smooth. Good day for wildlife spotting. The goat farm on Edmondson road, which is one of the foulest smells you can encounter, had BABY GOATS today. So I toughed out the smell because they were so stinking cute! Also, about a mile later, I stopped to watch some otters swim. |

| Sunset Run with Boy #2. His idea. We ran over the Circus Bridge to Casperen Beach and Back. It was pretty awesome. To have a kid that shows an interest in distance running? Whoa!

| 10.2 miles. Hood route to Legacy trail to colonia and back. 6:30 am start. Pretty smooth. I saw 2 bald eagles. One was carrying a big fish. Man, I love fish. Fish is good. Song in my head: I'm taking a ride with my best friend, I hope he never lets me down again. |

| 10.2 miles. 6:45 am start. Hood route to Legacy trail to colonia and back. There was a cycling event on legacy trail this morning. About 600 hundred bikes, they say. I heard "on your left" a few times this morning. Also, one guy in the middle of a pack said "Hey Tom, good morning." I have no clue who that was. As a true Gator fan, I have been obsessed with brackets this year. The Name Of The Year bracket. Www.nameoftheyear.com |

| 6 pm. 8 miles at Celery Mound. I ran a 2 mile loop. 85 degrees. Full sun. I used to do hill intervals out here. But today, I went long and consistent pace. I ran the grass levees and ran up and down the hill on each lap.
You know, this is a unique place. Gathered here are runners, and mountain bikers, and Hikers in training carrying full packs. Where else can they practice? Also, a large number of rare birds show up here. People come from surprising distances to see birds they might not see otherwise. I see them carrying around gimungous camera equipment, and tip toeing towards a grassy marsh, as I go by grunting. Add to that - I was involved with the planting design on top of the mound, which is just now coming into maturity. And finally, the fact that this place is 100 yards away from the big cat sanctuary. It is common to hear a lion out there. I should totally run here more often.
