Long-Term Running Goals:

Continue running as often as I can, as far as I can, as fast as I can. Teaching my kids (by example) the rewards that come from putting in the work. Very slowly get to 50 states.

Personal:

I'm married, with two sons, 17, and 18.

I started running because someone dared me to.

I ran my first race 3 days after my 40th birthday. (Disney)

3.5 miles. Hood Route. @ 8:05 pace. which is way way faster than I thought I was going.

I might not be entirely out of the woods with this hip thing. Best I can figure, it is directly related to soccer with the kids (@ 2 hours of it last night). I do a lot of stuff with my right foot, which means I pivot a lot on my left foot, causing a lot of twisting on my left hip.... It looks like I have to give up the soccer, which really stinks.

4 easy trail miles. 8 am start. 2 different guys on the trails, on their cell phones, each walking a pair of large dogs. Clueless.

On the other hand, the weather is still great, under the Florida in May context.

5 pm. Slow run with B-Minus from Circus Bridge to Caspersen Beach and back. Got stung by a mystery bug behind my left ear. It still hurts a lot.

7.5 (say what? ) miles. Hood route to Legacy trail and back. 8 am start. Igot a case of sneezing and sore throat at the tail end of last week. But also I got lazy, and somewhat rotund.

5.5 miles. Hood route. 6 am start. The traffic is bad. I don't ususally have to stop this many times for cars. I need to get out 15 minutes earlier to avoid the nonsense, I think. 

Also, for the first time ever, I actually stepped on a lizard (Brown Anole) while running. Since those things are EVERYWHERE around here, you would have thought this would have happened sooner, but no. He ran under my right foot. I could feel him getting crushed. It was so gnarly.

3.5 miles of gnats. Hood route.

Big day in non-running stuff. 23rd anniversary. Last soccer game for Tommy. Picked up some extra kids and hit grounders, and flies at the baseball fields. I threw a couple of buckets of balls in the batting cages. Went swimming. chicken fights. On and on. There's a good chance I've injured something. Not the most romantic anniversary, but still one of the best days I've had.
