Favorite Running Quotes:

1.

"Sooner or later the serious runner goes through a special, very personal experience that is unknown to most people.

Some call it euphoria. Others say it's a new kind of mystical experience that propels you into a elevated state of consciousness, a flash of joy.

A sense of floating as you run. This experience is unique to each of us, but when it happens, you break through a barrier that separates you from casual runners. Forever. And from that point on, there is no finish line. You run for your life. You begin to be addicted to what running gives you."

~Nike Poster

2.           A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.

Lao-Tzu

You’ve no doubt heard this.  And you’ve probably recited it in your mind on a run or at the gym when you’re just beginning to get in shape.  You have a goal in sight and this quote brings you back to the current moment.

But the problem is that many runners forget all of the steps between the first one and the goal.  If your goal is to run under two hours for the half marathon then you need to be honest about all of the little steps to get to that goal.

…and what I’d rather see you do is to get the goal out of mind completely, but rather focus on the process, not the outcome. -Jay Johnson Process orientation, not outcome orientation.

You should have goals, but you should take it one step at a time.  And you should be honest about the fact that you don’t know how many steps it will take to get there. ~ Vernon Gambetta

3.  Human beings are made up of flesh, blood and a miracle fiber called COURAGE! ~ George Patton

4.   Find the courage to be patient.

48:07...slow....but at least I am running.

I've been having some lower back/glute/hip/piraformis issues.  So lots of stretching/icing and research on how to strengthen.

So glad to be running....so so so happy!

Hubby's been out of town, so it makes me extra grateful when he is home (and it makes working out extra easy).

Hip/glute is still really tight.  I've been stretching and icing....I think it may be a matter of maintaining.

5 miles on the stair climber.  It was SO SO SO hot in that darn gym today.  Such a sweaty mess!  I had a hard time today....  huffing and puffing....tired legs....someday "it" will come.

Lifted legs

lunges, wall sits, calf raises, squats on the wall with a ball

Beautiful day for a run!  It was slow and I stopped twice to stretch (my darn glutes are SO tight and seem to spasm constantly).  I felt ok...my left ankle tendon was tender and my right leg has a small spot with shin splints.  Lots of ice today and rolling on a baseball.

Going 8 tomorrow with my hubby.  I don't think we have run today (excluding races) since we had kids.  Hooray for an early morning babysitter.

We were suppose to do 8 miles today, but I took us on a little detour.  Oh well...it was a beautiful morning to be outside!

Ran with my hubby Tim!  This was his longest run EVER and he did a great job!  It was a rolling course (which included some BIG hiking spots....trail blazing).  We had three different water fountains (hooray for the water being turned on).  It was starting to get warm.

I was really proud of him....during the last 2 miles, I picked up the pace (more of my normal pace) and he quickly followed.  I think he is starting to understand the importance of having a running buddy....they can push you!

Ankle tendon and shin splint area sore.  Lots of ice and Advil.  I had a massage tonight.....I need one every week!
