I am really SICK of running injuries.  I feel like every day something else is starting to hurt. What in the HECK am I doing wrong!!!!

Started slow to see how shin would feel.  Right shin (right smack dab in the middle of the shin) has been really aching the past week or so (probably longer than that...but I just passed it off as shin splints).  My hip has felt really great after Saturday's run. 

Shin felt fine during the run, but have been aching all day even with ice.  Just the thought of a "wipe out" injury makes me go into a deep dark depression.

At the risk of being a hypocrondiac, I made an appointment for Thursday to see my sports medicine doctor.  I'm sure they laugh at how crazy I am once I leave.

I was told once that if a pain shows up during the warm up but goes away during the run, then it's training pain.

I hope hope hope you don't have an injury. You are smart (not hypochondriac) to have it checked out.

Have you tried wearing compressing sleeves during the day. I know some people use it for recovery. When my muscles ache, rather than ice it, I massage it along with gentle stretching.

I'm thinking that after running mostly on treadmill over the last couple months, the shin muscles might be called upon to work differently when you ran the SG Half. That is just a hunch, I may be totally off. At any rate, I hope it's a training pain and not any injury.

if it is shin splits I have some good strengthening exercises for you - and some bad news. It may be the TM's fault. When you switch running surfaces and then do a long run (like you did a couple weeks ago) on that surface you open yourself up to shin splints. Sorry, not good news :( The good news is that if you ice massage it (freeze water in a cup and tear down the cup as the ice melts while you rub it all up and down the shin) it will help a ton. Also, foot/ankle stability stuff will help in the long run: toe/heel walking and heel raises off a ledge, but push up on the big toe side then little toe side. Alternating big, little and do 3 sets of 30. You can totally kick this! Oh, and the compression sleeves are VERY bonus!! Wear them all day under pants and especially when you run.
