11.25 miles, AP 8:34 Another plan that didn't pan out. Wanted to do my 20 miler today (since Saturday was going to be crazy busy). Felt it would be best to do on the TM with the current leg problems. Kept thinking the legs would warm up and begin to behave. Tried varying speeds, etc., to see if it would help. Finally shut her down at 11.25 miles. This is what I think is going on: L medial tibial stress syndrome and secondary soleus tear. Problems began in July. Continued to run while trying not to cross the red line. R anterior shin splints. No warning signs. Likely a compensation injury. Lower back/SI pain. This is definitely a result of all of the sitting during hours of classes and studying. ** Looking back at my injuries over the past few years I see a pattern: they all happen during stressful semesters that require a lot of sitting and when my back begins to hurt. Really, I am not that old!! :) |
