Unfortunately, as scout committee chair I somehow inherited all the administrative duties associated with boy scout summer camp.  (I better not get started on how I feel about all the scouting bureaucracy or they may revoke my Eagle award.)  So, instead of getting in a workout last night, I spent all evening (finally overcoming my procrastination gene) planning and preparing next weeks camp menu.  If it were up to me, I think the scouts could earn just their wilderness survival merit badge by living off whatever they have in their packs or can manage to scavenge or catch.

I could force them to be studs like surviorman, Les Stroud, and eat off the land.

or they could feast like Bear Grylls.

hey, at least the scouts can be thankful there will be water to drink.

Anyway, I wanted to go 20 today, but my blasted left foot started acting up at 7 miles.  I did manage to finish with an additional 90 minutes on the arc trainer so I'll log 16.

I bet if you had drank your own urine you wouldn't have thought about the pain in your left foot and you could have finished the full 20. Something to remember in the future. Ha.

Oh man ... that is nasty stuff. My kids loved watching it though!! They especially enjoyed the urine guzzling. So nasty! :)

I would for sure die ... when I was younger no one knew that I was allergic to dandelions. My friend and I rubbed them all over our bodies trying to turn our skin yellow. Luckily my mom was close by and got me to the ER quickly!!! I probably shouldn't eat those!!

Sorry about your foot. Hope you are babying it. Be careful.

Thanks for the post. It took care of my Mt Dew craving for today. Hope the foot gets better soon.

Actually the time he drank urine didn't gross me out as much as when he "went" on a bandanna and then tied it on his head.

Ah, the joys of Scout Camp. Had 4 years of that duty, my prayers are with you Bro,lol! Now thats a good workout, I would of stopped at the 7, not you though!

Nice work. Is that better than Gatorade for hydration purposes?

Having the scouts do all this would be a great way to get fired.

I'm in charge of our varsity scout high adventure trip to the Frank Church Wilderness at the end of the month. I feel your pain. It's a thankless job but since I'm doing the planning I've worked in an inordinate amount of time in pursuit of goldens, grayling and large cutties. :-)

Kelli, he'd never get fired from scouting! He'd had those boys so tuff that they'd give him a year supply of Mt. Dew instead.

I dunno, some people just do not like their kids having to work at all.

How's the foot Paul? Oh, and how is scout camp? Jared has to go next week. They are cooking fish (that they catch hopefully) for some of their meals. It is a backpacking trip so should be fun. Crazy is more like it!
