The old treadmills at the gym I went to had a decline but they replaced them with ones that have a TV but no decline I guess watching Oprah is more important than running down hill.

Is it a weird feeling to run on a decline on a treadmill or does it feel as natural as running downhill outside? Hey I think that is my 89 year old gradpa in the front row of your strike class! :)

Rhett,

The downhill running on the treadmills I use at the gym is very similar to running outside. I notice the calibration is very accurate. I really believe it has helped me to take advantage of the downhills in the Utah marathons. I just have to be careful to take the time to run enough uphill and rolling simulations as well.

From Rachel on Mon, Feb 23, 2009 at 21:16:32

Wow, that looks like a tough class. Hope you survive it :) I tried your downhill running today at my gym and I did notice a difference from the up. I only did a -1% and for 4 miles so it wasn't horrible, but I could tell it was an easier 'release' than what I normally do- 2% Thanks for the advice, I'm loving my Ogden training right now!

Paul, I do a lot of my running on a treadmill, is that what you do, too?

Hey, is that you in the striped shirt?

What is strike class? It sounds brutal.

Is the babe on the far right in your strike class wearing a shirt with a Play Boy Bunny logo?
