I headed out for a long run this morning. I decided to try a new route and was not sure how long it was.  Some of the roads I had never run before.  I started off conservatively not wanting to crash.  Miles 8-10 were unexpectedly super hilly, but it was kind of fun.  After that I started feeling stronger and stronger and my pace was picking up even though I felt like I was just cruising at an easy effort.  By mile 18 I was feeling like I wanted to just keep on running all day, but I made it back home at mile 19.8.  I did the last .8 at 7:20 pace and was feeling really good.

Averaged 8:05 for the run, had a great time.  I'm looking forward to my next long run adventure.

Nice looong run Rhett. Sounds like your stress fracture is 100% history!

Mack, I wish I could say the SF was 100% history. I do think it is completely healed, but I have an ache that comes and goes in the tibia. It's usually really mild, but the pain spikes a bit here and there.

Sounds like a great run. Congrats on your return to big miles!

That is one AWESOME long run!!!! Love new route and LOVE LOVE LOVE that you felt stronger and stronger and *cruising* at easy effort. I would turn blue and drop dead at a 7:20 pace! :) I can only dream of a nearly 20 miler at AP of 8:05! I am so excited for you!!!

BTW, you should have stopped at 19.5 (remember you're supposed to be considerate of the OCD folks). But dang! you beat me by 0.1 on the mileage board!!!

EXCELLENT long run this morning!!! Please please please run real short tomorrow!!! Don't you have to coach your boys' b-ball or take Doone shopping? :)

DANG!!!! What a Friday -- What a STUD!!!! Should I send you some Tang to celebrate?

Dang, Rhett, nice long run!!!

By the way, what is it with you people doing these super long runs without even training for a race? Awesome!!!

As for feeling like you could have kept on running, will I ever feel like that? Hmmmm. Probably not. You once said to me "Obviously, running doesn't come easy for you, Dale." You're right, it's not easy for me at all. I'm almost to the point where I don't even care about getting PR's anymore. I just want to enjoy running without stressing about time goals. When I did the Snow Canyon Half last month, I had such a great time just taking in the scenery and I went in without any goals, except to finish. Lots of fun!!!

I moved from the first page to the third page on the mileage board. Perhaps I'll move back to the first page if I do my long run tomorrow. He he.

Teena, please NO TANG! What was the other thing you were eating with the Tang? I can't remember, but I seem to recall it was just as nasty.

Dale, running doesn't need to be about going fast. I can say I have truely loved my running the last month were I have quit worrying about time and just run by feel. It is liberating. I'm sure I'll start worrying about my speed again as races start approaching, but for now I'm just running for the joy of running and I'm loving it.
