I'm going camping with the Boy Scouts tonight up north of Vegas.  I hope I don't freeze.  I hate being cold, but even worse is being cold in a tent all night lying there hoping the sun will come up soon and every time you look at your watch it's only been 10 more minutes.

take a catalytic heater with you! They work great in a tent!

Also take your running stuff with you. I've gone on a lot of those kind of campouts over the years. I found nothing better than to get out and go for a nice run early in the morning. I would get a lot of puzzled looks from the other adults and the boys when I would come walking back in to camp with a sweaty face and the glow of a runners high at around 7am as they were just rolling out of bed. Great memories.

Oh yeah, you aren't going to run until Monday. Well, at least get out early for a hilly hike and get the same sweaty face/runners (hikers?) high.

Hope you're enjoying scout camp! I went on one of those high adventure back-packing trip with Larry (who was the bishop at the time) and his priests one summer in the High Uintah. I was barely pregnant w/ our youngest at the time. I was the only *girl* on this 4 days (3 over-nighters) trip. The boys and the leaders were impressed that I carried my own back pack and kept up pretty good. The leaders told me that by having me there kept the boys talking *clean*! :) It was a happy memorable experience as a bishop's wife! :)

I love camping! Smooth I am so jealous they would never let me go camping with the boys...they would be calling every father they knew, begging them to go and yet they still wouldn't let me go!

How did it go? Hope you were able to get some sleep because no more naps on Sunday for you, Bish!!!!!

That sounds like torture! Hope you did not freeze!! Scott is going on the Klondike with my son this next weekend, sub zero temps here in the mountains!!!!!

Rhett - that sounds exactly like my camping trips with the Cub Scouts.

Tom, some kind of heater would have been nice. I froze!

Mack, I really wanted to go for a run, but I didn't pack any running gear so I wouldn't be tempted since I'm not running until today.

Smooth, it was great being with the boys, but those hours of "sleep time" were never ending.

Kathie, I'm glad you like camping. I wish I did, but I can't figure out why people like going out and surviving without the all the comforts of home.

Teena, I survived, but it was so cold that all our water froze solid over night. Did I mention I hate being cold. And yeah, no naps yesterday. As a matter of fact I started the day around 8 and didn't get home until nearly 7. I did almost fall asleep during priests quorum though. :)

Kelli, wish Scott luck for me. He's a tougher man than I am.

Tim, it all ends when your last boy turns 18. :) I only have 14 more years of it. :)

I knew there was a reason we are together - we both have the same idea about camping... Motel 6 for us!
