Personal:

I started more dedicated running and racing in my thirties.  Eventually I developed symptomatic bradycardia and SVT which required a cardiac pacemaker implant and a cardiac cath ablation.  It has taken a long time to get back to running consistently again.  Counting my blessings and trying to remain more balanced with fitness.

5 mi - Morning run, no walking but did have a pit stop.  Weighed myself first thing this morning and ohhh boy do I have some work to do in that department.  All I need to do is lose 30-40 lbs to get down to 170-180, that's all.  A first world problem in more ways than one.

5 mi - Lunch run, 6 x pickups.  Nearly everyone at the fitness club had a shaker bottle in hand drinking some kind of special workout elixir.  Mostly the younger crowd.  The supplement industry still at work.

The Barkley email list had some advice being tossed around the past few weeks on how to train and succeed. Losing weight was number one. I'm about 15 lbs heavy myself. Lugging extra weight up and down the mountains is killer at the Barkley.

If you're not aware of it, the race is this weekend. Follow the (sparse) updates on twitter at #BM100

Thanks Jon. I heard rumblings about it happening this week.
