The doc said I should try running outside today! I got home at 10:15 and we had go see a condo at 11 so I decided to run over an have Kym meet me there. It's only 2 miles from home so I figured I would do a few laps around the track on the way. The track was closed so I ran some trails down to Garrison Springs instead(still on the way). At first it was hard to keep it slow, but that changed pretty quickly as the miles went by. So far I'm still feeling pretty good...

| | Day off...my quads are a little sore today. Even though that AMT machine simulates a good running motion it does NOT use the muscles in the same way! Hopefully they will calm down a bit and I can get back out there tomorrow. The good news: all the previously injured parts are feeling fine.

Kym and I had a nice motorcycle ride to Anacortes on Saturday afternoon where we stayed with our friends Liz and Mike. I ran 6 miles on Tommy Thompson Trail first thing in the morning and ran a nice progressive pace from start to finish. My quads were still barking at me, but I think they will adjust if I keep at it. After my run we rode further north to Bellingham where Kym taught a workshop on handling challenging kids in Sunday School. On the way home we took the long way down Chuckanut Drive and then stopped in Lynwood for dinner with another friend Christina who made us an awesome spicy vegitarian meal! What a great weekend! 6:00am Kym and I tried to run on the track this morning, but it was closed and so was the one at the next closest high school. We ended up coming home and running 3 hilly miles around the neighborhood. My legs are still sore and I'm a little discouraged about my marathon plans for this year. I want to run hard and my legs are just not ready :(

| | 1:00pm No pain in my knee today, and I was a little amped up after passing my Windows 7 MCTS exam so I ran 2 easy miles to see how my knee would react. It is a beautiful day and it felt great to get out and run, even if it was only for 15 minutes. So far so good, but I've said that before... If I'm not hurting tomorrow I think I'll run 2 more in the morning before I ride to Anacortes for the Oyster Run.

| | 6:00am 2.3 miles in the dark, I guess summer is finally over. It did turn out to be a great day for a ride to Anacortes for the last big bike rally of the year though. Deception pass was amazing as always, especially for a couple people in our group that hadn't been there before. My leg was acting up a little later in the day, probably aggravated by walking around all day in my clunky motorcycle boots. I'm resting today and will try a couple more miles Tuesday morning. 5:30am 4.3 flat miles across Steilacoom Park and back, never looked at my watch until I got home. Much faster than I expected, but it felt good. I can't wait until I can do this every day again! Check this out, a free Boston Qualifying marathon: http://www.greenrivermarathon.com/ this is on my calendar for next year whether I make it to CIM or not.
