Woo Hoo! Sub 40! This was an honest sub 40 for sure given that the course is over by .1 just like the 5k course. FWIW, my time was 39:01 when I hit 6.2 on my garmin.
My goal pace for today was 6:26. I messed up my plan right out of the gate and essentially ran my last mile first by trying to keep up with Preston. After I saw my first split I slowed up a little, but I still felt pretty good at the second split (6:15) so I thought for a minute about just sticking with it, but then decided to fall back to my goal pace for mile 3. The first part of the 4th mile is the toughest part of the course with a few good inclines where I fell off pace and lost a few seconds. No worries though, I had some time in the bank due to my fast start. The second half of the course is mostly flat and downhill overall so I managed to pull off a negative split by a few seconds with 19:57 out 19:43 back. I had a decent kick at the end even though there was nobody within reach after I passed the 10th place guy during mile 6. I finished a full minute faster than last year, took 2nd place in my AG, and smoked the whole 35-39 AG again where Preston took first about 2 minutes behind me! I passed him just after the turnaround. Old guys rule :)

Karina and Danny both placed 2nd in their AG and Kym came in 4th for hers. It was a fun morning for the Davis/Aguillon family. Next race: 15k on Feb 26

You're mile splits are about as fast as my 1 mile PR. Nice job Trap. Next year you'll be another minute faster. Woo hoo on the sub 40!

Burt - Thanks, but don't forget, your mile time is SUB 6 and few seconds is a big deal at that speed. Keep at it and you'll be stringing miles like that together in no time.

Nicole - My kids call me strongDad and say that I burninate. Let me introduce you to StrongBad:

What sub 40? and now you are gone?

From rAtTLeTrAp on Mon, Jan 24, 2011 at 22:35:29 from 75.196.5.231

Not gone, just resting. I'm too tired to run. I've been busy remodeling my daughter's new condo. It seems like I just finished mine and now I'm at it again. At least it's right next door :)
