4 miles on the gym TM @ 11 Min. Pace (.2 miles @ 7:30 Pace each mile). Upper Body wieghts before and inbetween miles.

I just realized that I bought and rode my new road bike Tuesday which was one year, to the day, that I had my accident last year. Didn't plan it that way it just happened.

Oh...forgot to post this. I've finally gotten back to some roping competition since the wreck, the foot operation and having my #1 competition horse die. I'm now riding a horse I've had in training for a few years but never felt comfortable competing on him. This is a small step but hopefully one in the right direction. I went to a small competion on Thursday night and won a little money and this trophy buckle.

26 Miles on the new road bike. It was very windy and a oneway trip into a strong south wind. ...It was plenty!

Gym this morning. I ran 2 miles on the TM @ 12 min pace with 3 reps of 20 upper body/shoulder weights before and inbetween.

My foot still feels like there is a lump inside it but there is no sharp pain unless I bend my toe upward. Hopefully it is slowly getting better....I don't think it's any worse after the work I've done over the past week or so.

Got up this morning planning a 25-30 mile ride. as I was getting ready I realized our little dog was barking like crazy outside. When I looked outside I saw tons of cyclers going by my house. I got ready and went out to see what ride they were on. Come to find out they were riding "David's Ride" which starts and ends about 20 miles from my house. I decided to join in and ride with some of them for a while. before I knew it I had ridden to the end of the ride (20+miles). So I filled my water bottles and headed Home.

42.5 miles today on the new road bike.

Wearing my luck TCU Crash Jersey!

Rode the bike home from church - 22.5 miles. There was a strong south wind so it was slow. I was also a little tired after my 40+ miler.

I had an early meeting this morning so I couldn't go to the gym to run on the TM so I went out and ran 3.25 miles on the road. Took a break between mile 2 and 3 and cooled down on the last .25. It felt akward. We'll see how the foot responds. (8:45, 8:45, 8:23).

Put this on the right day. Sorry If I deleted your comment. :-(

Gym Run Today. 2 Sets of 3 Miles @ 10 Min. Pace (with the last .25 miles @ 7:30 Pace).

I feel like I'm making some progress but the foot still looks and feels the same.

16 Miles on the Road Bike this morning @ 16 mph but I had a flat halfway throught the ride. Made the mistake and rode one of the back roads I typically run. Came around a curve and hit a rock in the road.

Out on the Road Bike again. I waited too late in the morning, it was hot and humid. Rode to a new area past Kingsbury and found some very nice country roads.

40 Miles @ 14+ mph. (pretty slow avg. but it's getting better)

4.25 miles run on the road this morning before church. Logged as easy, but that's a lie. Hot and humid - 9:00 Pace (and a fast pick-up at the end to achieve that)

6 miles on the TM at the gym. 11 avg pace on the first 3 and 10 avg pace on the second 3. Stepped off for a few seconds to get a drink but basiclly continuous miles. (some progress, but the foot is no better)

So much for trying to lose some weight. Tuesday I ate Texas BBQ, Wednesday I had steak and again last night we went out with some friends to a steak restaurant and I had steak again! I'm a pig....don't know what I'm thinking.

6 mile on the Gym TM with a few upper body weights to warm up. All miles were 10 min. pace except the last was ramped up each mile to a final quarter mile at 7:30 pace.

Went to the doctor yesterday. He said my toe/foot was doing as good as to be expected. He said it was about 60% and would take another 3-4 months to be 90% and a year to be 100%. The cable and reconstruction has caused my toe to be permanently stiff but he says that is a good thing. Slowly the scar tissue will break down and the soreness on the bottom of my foot will go away. He says I need to run in stiff sole shoes so they only bend at the toe and not in the middle of the shoe (any recommendations?). So...the truth is it may be a while before I'm back to where I want to be.

Ran the small loop again this morning. The foot is the same but with the soreness I guess I've changed my stride and now my left heel is a little sore. Probably compensating for the sore right foot/toe.

7 miles with a little more effort proves:  more effort = faster pace. That's all I know.
