A perfect day for a 5K in Ephraim, sunny, 45' and almost no wind. They changed the race course after many years of the same. 1st mile near level, if anything slightly up, 2nd mile has the most incline, 3td mile is the only decline mile.
The gun went off and 5 Manti High runners took off, with about 3 other youngsters in front of me. During the 1st mile I passed two of the youngsters but someone also passed me. During the 2nd mile a young runner of about 15 passed me on the most inclined section. Near the start of the 3rd mile where the decline begins I picked up the pace and slowly passed the young guy. With about 0.3 miles left as I hit a turn I looked back and the youngster was way to close, if he got any closer he'd outsprint me at the finish. So I again picked up the pace and held him off.
It was a very good race for me and my old man body did great. Dallas, Rachie, Kenna, James, Jamie, and Bryan also ran it.
Miles 1- 6:35, 2- 7:05, 3- 6:10
