I just read through your July posts, so I'm caught up on my Rob readin'. I see you might switch from the Marathon to the half or 10K on the 24th. I plan on doing the half, so Maybe I'll see you there.

Okay, so funny story about 42!! We took the kids to see it on opening night. Well, my two youngest were two of four black people in the theatre. It was hilarious how after the movie everyone was being all smiles and trying to talk to my twins. It was weird, almost like, "Hey, look at me, I'm cool with black people." People crack me up!!!
(My kids really got into it as well. Several of them had already read various short biographies written about him. I have hope that this generation is a lot smarter than ours or the ones preceding us. Go Abby!!! :))

Funny Teena but for some reason that story doesn't surprise me. Did your kids think it was funny or were they annoyed?

My kids joked about it ... they are pretty good judges of character and have had situations that were not as well-intentioned as this.
What I often get annoyed about though is how often I am told that my husband and I are wonderful people for having adopted two black children. I rarely hear people saying that to those who adopt white children (although ocassionally I do). I don't know, it's probably more of an issue on my end but it just rubs me the wrong way.
Anyway ... just sayin'! :)
(I'm sure most people are sincerely trying to do what is right. I love being in a family where we are frequently discussing things like this because it is often something that we have to deal with. It's a nice personal reminder to live my own life with more integrity and respect for others, regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, religion, etc.)
I wish there were more teachers like you ... that really encourage their students to THINK!!! :)
Long live the Murphys!!! :)
