I have run 12 marathons, 5 since major surgery in 2005. My fastest was Leipzig in 1992. 3 hours 11 minutes 48 seconds. The Mesa-Phx Marathon on February 25, 2017 was the fastest since my surgery at 4:26:59.
Short-Term Running Goals:
I want to improve on my last Marathon time. After the Phoenix Marathon that I ran February 25, 2017 I want to focus on shorter races and do a sprint tri. I did improve about 45 minutes faster on the Mesa-Phx Marathon over the last Petrified Forest Marathon and about 27 minutes faster than the last time I ran the Mesa-Phx Marathon.
Long-Term Running Goals:
Continue to run and work on my speed. Do shorter races and a sprint tri in the next year.
Personal:
I have been an educator for 32 years. My wife, Margaret, and I have 6 children and at the present time 6 grandchildren. Running helps to keep me level. I love it and hope to continue to run for many years to come.
Treadmill. 20:56 with 10:19 pace. 10:01 and 10:38 with 17 sec. treadmill says I am going faster and working harder than the Garmin. I feel that the treadmill is more accurate but the Garmin numbers are used here.
Treadmill. 31:54 with 10:24 pace. 10:05, 10:25, 10:44, with 40 sec. treadmill said was working harder than Garmin. Sometimes I don’t swing my arms the same and that may be the difference.
Two treadmill runs. 2.02 and 2.03. First two right around 10 minutes each per Garmin. Next two in 10:40 range. Arm swing better but still not matching Treadmill times. Worked hard.
