Running Accomplishments:

I have run 12 marathons, 5 since major surgery in 2005. My fastest was Leipzig in 1992. 3 hours 11 minutes 48 seconds. The Mesa-Phx Marathon on February 25, 2017 was the fastest since my surgery at 4:26:59.

Short-Term Running Goals:

I want to improve on my last Marathon time. After the Phoenix Marathon that I ran February 25, 2017 I want to focus on shorter races and do a sprint tri. I did improve about 45 minutes faster on the Mesa-Phx Marathon over the last Petrified Forest Marathon and about 27 minutes faster than the last time I ran the Mesa-Phx Marathon.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Continue to run and work on my speed. Do shorter races and a sprint tri in the next year.

Personal:

I have been an educator for 32 years. My wife, Margaret, and I have 6 children and at the present time 6 grandchildren. Running helps to keep me level. I love it and hope to continue to run for many years to come.

AM neighborhood run. 48:34 with 9:32 pace. Ran 5 min normal pace and then 1 min hard. Did that on multiples of 5 until 45 min and then I tried to gradually run harder to the end. HR 129 with a max of 145. 9:49, 9:21, 9:31, 9:38, and 9:22 with 54 seconds to finish.

AM run after Winona and August’s breakfast “tea party”. 1:03:26 with 10:14 pace. I could tell I ran hard yesterday. 79 degrees out with 10 mph wind. HR 129 with max of 137. 10:20, 10:14, 10:48, 10:52, 9:30, and 9:41 with 2.02 to finish. Ran the hilly course.
