| Member Since: Nov 27, 2016 Gender: Male Goal Type: Other Running Accomplishments: I have run 12 marathons, 5 since major surgery in 2005. My fastest was Leipzig in 1992. 3 hours 11 minutes 48 seconds. The Mesa-Phx Marathon on February 25, 2017 was the fastest since my surgery at 4:26:59. Short-Term Running Goals: I want to improve on my last Marathon time. After the Phoenix Marathon that I ran February 25, 2017 I want to focus on shorter races and do a sprint tri. I did improve about 45 minutes faster on the Mesa-Phx Marathon over the last Petrified Forest Marathon and about 27 minutes faster than the last time I ran the Mesa-Phx Marathon. Long-Term Running Goals: Continue to run and work on my speed. Do shorter races and a sprint tri in the next year. Personal: I have been an educator for 32 years. | PM run. 38:33 with 9:25 ave pace. 8:44, 9:03, 9:35, and 10:16. The plan was to run as fast as i could for 4 miles. Started out ok and got worse as i went. Feeling better but still a little under the weather. |

| PM run. 56:46 9:21 pace. 74 degrees to start and 68 to end. 9:19, 8:55, 9:27, 9:25, 9:20, and 9:40. After first mile i picked it up every 5 minutes or i thought i did. After the second mile it idn't seem like that worked. The 3rd mile and the 5th miles had the most up in them. |

| AM run. 56:57. 9:23 Pace. Tried to relax first mile and then do 1/2 mile pickups beginning with the 2nd mile through the 5th mile. Was going to run the last mile fast. Didn't work out. 9:20, 8:42, 9:23, 9:35, 9:34, and 9:41. 2nd mile was fastest but it had the downhill portions in it. 4th mile should have been fastest. 6th mile is almost completely flat but that didn't seem to matter. |

| Tried a short ladder after a mile warmup. 1 1 2 1 3 2 3 2 2 1 1 1. At that point i just did the slower pace until 3.5 and then I ran as fast as I could to the end. 37:03 for an overall 9:02 pace. 9:08, 8:31, 9:10, and 9:23. Ran 8:25 pace during the last .1. |

| AM run. Tried to keep 9:30 pace for each mile. First mile was 9:43, so sped up after first mile. Then ran9:25, 9:20, and 9:15 miles and then 8:37 for last .1. 38:30 with overall pace of 9:25. Ran flat mostly in desert. 40 lunges, 20 squats, 20 back extenders, 40 push-ups, 40 crunches, 1 min plank 40 lunges, 20 squats, 20 back extenders, 30 push-ups, 30 crunches, 1 min plank I believe that i need to become more consistent with my core workouts to start improving more. |
