Running Accomplishments:

I have run 12 marathons, 5 since major surgery in 2005. My fastest was Leipzig in 1992. 3 hours 11 minutes 48 seconds. The Mesa-Phx Marathon on February 25, 2017 was the fastest since my surgery at 4:26:59.

Short-Term Running Goals:

I want to improve on my last Marathon time. After the Phoenix Marathon that I ran February 25, 2017 I want to focus on shorter races and do a sprint tri. I did improve about 45 minutes faster on the Mesa-Phx Marathon over the last Petrified Forest Marathon and about 27 minutes faster than the last time I ran the Mesa-Phx Marathon.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Continue to run and work on my speed. Do shorter races and a sprint tri in the next year.

Personal:

I have been an educator for 32 years. My wife, Margaret, and I have 6 children and at the present time 6 grandchildren. Running helps to keep me level. I love it and hope to continue to run for many years to come.

PM run was 30 degrees out. 1:09:52 with 10:45 pace. Wind was worse today. Started out to run same as yesterday and decided to take the initial downhill at half mile out of the run because I didn’t want to run back up. 10:29, 11:08, 11:11, 10:48, 10:27, and 10:31 with 5:17 for the half. HR 126. First 3 miles had most of the uphills. These last two runs have been a little slower and much colder but my VO2 Max has stayed at 50.

PM run. Strong wind whipped me around most of the run. Mostly crosswind and headwind. 1:21:44 with 10:32 pace. 9:45, 9:59, 10:59, 11:23, 10:56, 10:07, 10:14, and 11:03 for the last .75 mile. Mile 1 and 6 had some tailwind but quite a bit of crosswind as well. When I left the temp was 47 degrees at the house but the wind chill was much lower. I got quite a chill at the end of the run and had to come in immediately after the run. Usually I walk a bit before coming in. The same dogs came after me again in mile seven.
