| I may have redefined "slow miles" this morning. It was my first run with my running partner in a couple of weeks and we were both pretty leery of all the little sparkly spots in the road that we feared were lurking sheets of ice. But hey, we got in three miles and we didn't break any bones. I think that will have to satisfy me for the next couple of months.
And now a few words on 2015 (the obligatory New Year's post). Even though miles dropped off sharply the last couple of weeks, I ended 2014 much better than I started it. I'd like to make lots of ambitious plans for mileage and marathons this year, but reality says that as long as I'm going to school, that's not going to happen. I do have to say that setting new goals for this year is much easier because I can look back at weekly and monthly averages from last year. Thank you fastrunningblog! I've always logged my miles on a paper calendar before and this is really so much better (unpaid endorsement :) Having said all that, I've decided that I'd like to shoot for 15 miles a week, 50 miles a month and 600 for the year. I realize that 15 miles a week adds up to more than 50 miles a month, but 15 is a nice easy number to keep track of, and if I fall short occassionally there is still hope for attaining my monthly and yearly goals. The yearly goal isn't much higher than what I did this year, and I know I can do more than 50 a month in the summer, so I guess what I'm really trying to focus on is being more consistent the other nine months of the year and getting that monthly mileage up a bit. If I can do that, 600 miles for the year will be easily attainable and I'll set my sights even higher in 2016.

| We did my old three mile route this morning. It was nice to get away from the all the cars near the high school, but crossing 6th was scary.

| The same route I did on Monday. It's a sorry a little excuse for a run, but it was all I had time for, and hey - I ran! If I can get a nice five-miler in tomorrow I'll have met my goal for the week for the first time in a very long time. It sounds like an excuse, but I recognized I was going to have a little more flexiblilty this week and I deliberately went for shorter runs so I didn't up my mileage too drastically in one week. If my schedule continues to cooperate I'd love to get back to 4 three mile runs during the week and a six miler on Saturday. We'll just have to wait and see!

| Despite the fact that my washing machine decided to fill itself for three full hours last night, flooding half the tv room and interupting a perfectly good night's sleep, we managed to get the full route in before I borrowed Brenda's fan and went home to sop up some more soggy carpet.

| So it was probably a really bad idea to whip out 6.5 when I've hardly run, but I couldn't stand to see a single digit number as the total for this week. It was a strange week with a lot of unexpected kinks in the schedule that made finding time to run really difficult. Hopefully next week will be smoother.

Mondays are the most difficult day for running this semester (I guess I could forego grocery shopping, but I did that occassionally last semester and learned that you can only go so many days without milk, eggs, bread or cereal before the teenage boys revolt). I've decided to be okay with only running Tuesday - Saturday, but trying to be consistent those five days in a row. I accidently ended up with forty free minutes before I had to be in class this morning, so I squeezed in a short run and a shower. I actually made it to class on time - hair dripping wet. I tried to run a little faster than usual since I was in a hurry, but I think it took me just a long. Hmm.

| It was nice of the rain to take a break while I ran with Brenda this morning. Perfect running temperture. I grew up in Oregon and I will always love rainy days the best (especially if they aren't too wet).
