Icy Dog Encounter run..........  It was 30 degrees with a cold wind this morning.  It was very icy in spots from the freezing rain/snow combination we got last night so I was slow and careful.  Since I have not had a dog encounter for awhile, it was strange that I had 2 major and 1 minor ones this morning.

The first one was after about 3.5 miles just as I was running South on the street behind Costco.  I saw 2 dogs, 1 large and 1 small, running towards me on the opposite side of the street.  When they spotted me they changed directions and the chase was on.  The larger dog looked pretty vicious and was snapping and barking right on my heels.  I had to yell and threaten him several times to get him to abate.

My second encounter was just as I was climbing lower Satterfield at about 7.3 miles.  This dog came running at me from this house way up on the hill on the right side.  He did not get as close to me but he almost got hit by a car.

Just a few minutes later, right before I got to the top of Satterfield at mile 8.1 this puny dog not much bigger than a rat started barking and following me for about 3 houses.  Luckily it never actually got on the road because a car would have smooshed it for sure.

Wow...between the black ice, the wind, and the dogs it was a crazy morning.  Oh yeah....I ran 10.57 miles somewhere in the middle of all that.

Wow, what a running adventure this morning...imagine if you had slipped on the black ice while the big one was chasing you, scary thought.

Another reason to treadmill, Bill. :)
